Ahahahah this site is confusing a little. I introduced myself on the newbie fourm lol. Hi to all the collector's , my name is Joe and my interest is collecting stamps with the year, date ,time and where it's from stamped on it .But like to collect any and all stamps. I'm 45 years of age and starting late in the hobby. I will never have lots of years of experience like most, but still want to learn and have alot of knowledge on stamps. I'm more into collecting and have cool stuff to show off. Value/worth I can care less ,I'm more into rarity and comman of the stamps. If you let me know the value then I'm good with that, but I won't ask. I know there's serious collector's and them are the ones I look up to and love to learn what they have to say on my findings . I just want to have fun and injoy the hobby. Thanks, Happy collecting.

Hello Everybody,

Richie from Dublin, Ireland. Fell back in love with stamps a few years back and hopped onto the Learning Curve with vigour. Got some great advice and resources early from a friend so managed to bypass the new user types of mistakes.

My main area is Deutsches Reich and have built a collection with something from all of the Michel numbers. Also have an interest in British Commonwealth Southern Africa as my dad and grandfather spent a of of time there and collected some nice stamps and covers.

Look forward to spending time here on the never-ending quest for more learning.

All the best
/richie

Hi, my interests are postal stationary items covering captivity in Australia between 1939 and 1947 for German Internees and POW’s as well as Interned Italians and Italian POW’s after their captivity in India and subsequent transfer to Australia. I am looking for Parcel acknowledgment cards as well as the Australian POW Christmas cards. In addition I am interested in all correspondence to and from the Italian P.W Control Centres and P.W Hostels , especially in Queensland.

Hello. My name is Declan. I am from Ireland but live in Austria. My dad died many years ago and I have many of his stamps. One day about 8 years ago I took the decision to at least sort them out by country. He was a passionate but messy collector. Once I had that done I took the smallest pile and decided to catalog them. They were stamps from the USA and since then I have accumulated an affordable but respectable collection of classic American for myself. Lately I have started looking at his Irish stamps and believe that this may be the best place to seek help. I'm looking forward to posting pictures of stamps I find interesting of have questions about and especially looking forward to learning from others who know better than myself. :)

Hello alfons44 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Your specialised collecting area is a difficult one, and it overlaps with interests of various other collectors interested in wartime censorship and POW camps. Here are a couple of items with such associations, currently on eBay:

Tatura Internment Camp, 1943

Myrtleford P.W. Camp, 1946

Congrats on getting back into the hobby. I've just about finished an exhibit on Ulm's April 1934 air mail from Aus to NZ so am delving into your collecting interest. It has been entertaining.

Hello to everyone from South Australia

Post by Trenance2 »

I have been a collector all my life and have rather large collections although not an expert. My last wife couldnt understand why I had around 7 million stamps! Now there is just me and my stamps!
My collections are strong on Germany (Particulalry the Nazi era) and Thailand and I have a good collection of early Thai Airmails. As I am in my 70's I will probably rationalise the collection over the next few years. I deeply value the expertise that is out there and hope I can connect with many of you.

Hello everyone my name is Phil and I'm from the UK. I've been collecting stamps all my life and now I've retired I've more time to devote to my hobby.

I collect Queen Elizabeth II British Commonwealth up to 1970.

George VI British Commonwealth or at least those that I can afford!.

Oh and GB stamps and of course that well known subject "Postal History of Pembrokeshire" in South Wales.

I have produced my own pages for the collections having decided that pre-printed was far too expensive, I would be happy to share some of these pages, with fellow collectors.

I also collect Aircraft on Stamps, Worldwide.

I'm also a bit of a hoarder and have boxes and books full of stuff that I've probably forgotten about.

I'm constantly learning and look forward to receiving info and perhaps spreading info and help to others.

Always ready to exchange stuff I have lots.

Phil

I thought so, but I seem to have receiving a number of emails asking me to introduce myself. Anyway it's interesting to see my previous intro, with the exception of two sets of QE II up to 1970 my Commonwealth collection is complete just needs finishing touches to a collection that is housed in 17 volumes on my own design pages. Still chasing KG VI.

Hi - I am not technically a new member as I made a post in 2012. I collect anything to do with Botswana FDC's and commemorative covers (the first 50 years). I used to be chair of the philatelic society in Botswana and sat on the Government Stamp Advisory Board that decided o new issues etc. Now retired, I want to exhibit parts of my collection and would like some advice on this. Basically, I am wondering whether to make many single frame exhibits on the following topics or combine them somehow into one exhibit. I would be really grateful for some advice on this. The frame topics i could do are (A) Errors related to official FDC and Commemorative covers (B) The commissioning and design of a stamp issue (C) Unofficial FDC and Commemorative Covers (D) First flight covers. I have a lot of interesting material on these topics but my initial thinking is that they are so different that if an exhibit is to 'tell a story' then they need to be separate exhibits????

Welcome aboard (again)

Looks like you have a lot to share and contribute.

I'm a lifelong exhibitor. I have my single frame exhibit shared right here:

https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=7209070#p7209070

Though I have never collected anything related to British Commonwealth, I have extensive experience in exhibiting.

Multi frame or single frame are both possible, depending on the story you want to tell.

You might want to start a new thread, share scans of some of your nice material, then I belive many people (including yours truly) will be happy to chip in.

Hi - thanks for your thoughts on my question. Your Italian display is really nice - can see why you got a gold! So, you mentioned that you think I could put all of those 4 topics in one exhibit - would that be with a title like 'Topics related to Botswana fdc AND commemorative covers' ? My worry is that the topics are rather unconnected so putting them in as a single entry may seem weird to some. I was also wondering, if a judge reads these forums - would it not take away the novelty surprise element of reading a display - if they have seen the material in a post on this site before they have seen it on display as an entry?

Not exactly. It depends on what you want to show, and how you want to show it. Of course, the first person who needs to see the connection between different parts of your exhibit is you. Then you have to explain that connection to others, including judges. If you're not convinced that your exhibit has a good plan, you should change it with a different one that makes you feel comfortable. The change may include removing or adding new chapters such as narrowing or widening the time period or geographic reach.

This is a complicated and long discussion, one that I will be happy to contribute. However, I believe you should start a separate thread with some "eye candy" ie scans from your collections for us.

I wouldn't worry about this. We are not supposed to surprise the judges.

Good luck

Hello rcowen5. Here's a three step procedure that should help.

• To start a new thread, click on the Board Index, at top left of this page, first item above the header "Hello All New Members", or else click this link:
https://www.stampboards.com/index.php
.
• In the Index, go to the general subject which would best contain the new thread you wish to start. For example, you might go to "Wide Ranging Postage Stamp Discussion Corner". There you can click on its header
"Discuss stamps - and *anything* at ALL happening with stamps"
https://www.stampboards.com/viewforum.php?f=13
.
• This takes you to the "Announcements" list for that general subject.
At the top left in red you will see New Topic and a pencil icon. If you click on that button you will be presented with the pad for starting a new thread!

Hi there - I've just joined, but really only to try and determine a value and find a new home for a Limited Edition Australia Post Philitalic item I recently found in a cupboard. I know it's quite a rare item as I received it directly from Australia Post (sometime in the late '80s I believe) and I've not seen or been able to locate another one anywhere.

I'm hoping someone can give me some idea of what it might be worth, and whether there's anyone who maybe interest in becoming the new custodian.

Thank you.

Hi, my name is Phil J and I live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria , Australia.
I returned to Stamp collecting during the Covid lockdowns after a long absence working all around Australia and overseas. My main interests are in Australian stamps, but have family collections from around the world.

Hi, Thanks for the add. I am in the UK and make my own stamps for a mythical kingdom called Morningmoss, based very loosely on the 15th century. I look forward to showing my stamps and having some good feedback from you all.
