Great pix Jim.

A lovely place Banff .. magic in Winter it really is, but mid year is still gorgeous I agree. Have been there for Xmas a few times, and with all the snow on the conifers it is like Fairyland. Looking down on the Hotel is a magic view. :)

One of the girls worked there for years in Banff, and until we drove her to Moraine Lake, she'd never bothered to go there. Took a pic of her and Margo - fabulous colour from all that glacial crushed rock.

Copied over from another thread:
In the picture below, what is the handsome man :D , in the picture feeding this horse, on Cox Plate day :?: A bonus point if you can name the horse . :)
Image
& this too:
Did you say Licorice. Fields Of Omagh, also known as "FOO", won the Cox Plate in 2003 & 2006 & was at the 2016 Cox Plate last Saturday to lead the field out onto the course.

Fields Of Omagh was trained at Lindsay Park, South Australia by Peter Hayes, Tony McEvoy and David Hayes. 'FOO', as he was affectionately dubbed by fans and the media, won seven races in succession in the early part of his career. Nursed back from two serious injuries by Dr. Campbell Baker, head veterinary surgeon for Lindsay Park, the horse gained a reputation as a Moonee Valley specialist. He is also noted for his gallant runners-up behind Northerly in the 2002 Caulfield Cup. He won the Valley's prestigious Cox Plate for the first time in 2003, and, in a record-equalling fifth attempt, created history in becoming the race's oldest winner, as a nine-year-old, in 2006. In between these wins, he was second to Savabeel, and third behind Makybe Diva. 'FOO' also won the 2006 Group One Futurity Stakes. 'FOO' campaigned at or near the highest level for six years in-a-row and raced against a number of champions including Makybe Diva, Sunline, Northerly, Lonhro and El Segundo.

During his racing career he travelled to Japan, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.

He had 45 starts for 13 wins 8 seconds & 7 thirds & won prizemoney of $6,496,240.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fields_of_Omagh
I recently heard he loved licorice & as he is my second favourite horse of all time, I had to take him a bag. He scoffed the lot in no time.
How does that measure up Terry :?:

Margo and I flew up to Hong Kong last weekend, via Sydney-Adelaide-Melbourne-Cairns-Kong Kong (don't ask!), so a very lonnnng day in the air. (And back home Hong Kong-Coolangatta-Melbourne-Adelaide-Sydney.)
Image
After a 4am start to the day, we stepped off the plane at 7pm, schlepped ourselves downtown, and caught up above with active member here expatyeoman, and charming wife Natalie (at right) in a local restaurant in the SOHO area, that they recommended.

Last visit to Hong Kong we had lunch with aethelwulf, but he is on vacation in Prague now I understand, or we could have had a mini stampboards gathering!

Wandering around the open air unrefrigerated food markets there the next day, I am amazed in these high temperature high humidity countries, that anyone eating meat is not dead the following day - if not sooner! They all seen to survive amazingly well. Pork and poultry are super popular there, and those meats REALLY are dodgy, re storage in hot conditions. 8)

The Mao very large framed artwork I photo'd in a restaurant - was made entirely from their patron business cards - hard to see at a distance - amazing work!

No kelpie dog but a kelpie is also a Scottish water spirit that is in the form of a horse, our farm is surrounded by water ( river

on one side and mountain with waterfall on the back side) . Being that my background is Scottish and we have horses I figured that

Kelpie Farm was a good name :)
