The Global - Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening (MAE) LOUNGE!

Post by admin »

This thread has been long overdue.

After 4 years I guess "better late than never"!

As we have around 6,500 members in over 100 different countries, I am sure this thread will get very busy over time!

So here we go. A lounge to pop into to say 'Good Morning, Good Afternoon or Good Evening' to other members. Or any other friendly greeting chit chat we would have in any Community. 8)

I am typing this at soon after midnight on a cold, rainy, Sydney Winter night, and my day is done. Yes in Europe is mid afternoon, in the USA/Canada wake up time for many etc, often to hot weather.

You can comment on the weather, the latest news, the latest gossip or sport scores etc, etc - or respond to the comments above your post.

Enjoy! Over to the members. 8)

Glen

I'll go second by confusing everyone saying good morning from the UK, even though it is 3.30 in the afternoon, I work the nightshift and have just got up, I may say to the excellent news that Sharaposa (sic) has been shown up in the French Open Tennis semi final, made my day.

China on the rise in World sport as well it seems.

Good morning from Scarsdale where, for once, it is not incredibly humid.

But it's early yet (10:41 am).

G'day all.

It is now 09:47 and the sun is trying hard to break through the fog. Hopefully it will turn out to be a nice day.

And with Sharapova out of the French Open we can turn the sound back on.

The Eels to beat the Dragons, Swans over Brisbane, Brumbies to have a nice flight home. Bruins to beat the Canucks and Switzerland over Serbia. 8) (and Blatter beats everyone)

Here to enjoy

Morning everyone.
It´s 2.30 am Friday for me.

I agree with you Glen that this thread will get popular in time.
6.500 members ? Seems like just a few months ago that there were 5 thousand.

Stampboards is grousse mate.

Anyway I gotta hit the sack. Funny thing about living on the other side of the world is I catch the late evening NRL games in Australia during my late mornings. So Eels are on against the Dragons at what ? 11:30 am.
I´m with you Kevin, Eels to win this time.

Avagoodweekend everyone. :)

It's 2.22 p.m. on a slightly downcast cloudy afternoon if I look out the window behind me as I am typing this. The weather in Malaysia is rather heavy humid and warm unless you are in an air-conditioned office like mine.

Finally finished writing up my New South Wales collection (as it stands today !! :D ) so looking forward to a couple of quiet ales this evening.

Have a great weekend all,

Good afternoon folks, from Melbourne CBD - It's almost 5pm here. Very cloudy outside, some rather overcast patches but not a drop of rain. Pleasant early evening autumn sunshine (although I'd still consider this afternoon).

This reminds me of Phil, the weatherman (as in Phil the groundhog) from that movie Groundhog Day. At the beginning of the film, he's giving the weather details on TV:

"Somebody asked me today, 'Phil, if you could be anywhere, where would you like to be?'

I said to him, 'Probably right here' - Elko, Nevada. Our nation's high at 79 today.

In California, they'll have warm weather tomorrow, gang wars and some very overpriced real estate. Up in the Pacific Northwest, they'll have some very tall trees. It will be clear across the Rockies and the Great Plains.

But look out, here comes trouble - Oh, boy! Front coming our way. Look out!
What will that mean to us in the Three Rivers area? One of these big blue things! This cold, frigid, Arctic air. This big mass out of the north. It will meet up with all this moisture coming out of the Gulf...mix together at high altitudes and cause some snow. It won't hit us here in Pittsburgh, it will push off and hit Altoona.

Phew, close call!

Let's take a look at the five-day forecast - Nothing to be too scared about. Bundle up warm, but leave your galoshes at home."

Good Evening from Brisbane in Sunny Queensland Australia.

It is 5:45pm, the rugrats are fed and I'm dying for a beer but the missus isn't home yet. Lovely clear sunny day and a bit warm (it's SUPPOSED to be winter), but it will probably cool down to a minimum of 10 degrees celcius.

Good morning from a cool Cape Town, South Africa. Temperature is about 16 degrees celsius (would guess that must be about 61 degrees fahrenheit). Plenty of rain forecast for Saturday which should ruin my golf. Great weather for philately though.

Good afternoon from Hongkong, Friday 4:30pm now.

It is rather hot (30C/85F) and cloudy here and will remain such for the weekend.

Coming Monday is the Dragon Boat Festival, everyone is in holiday mood now.

The festival is to commemorate a Chinese scholar who jumped into a river 2300 years ago when his home kingdom was conquered because the king did not follow his advice.

An old custom was throwing rice dumplings into the sea, hoping the fish would eat the dumplings but not the scholar's body. Of course now people throw the rice dumplings down their own stomach instead.

The hottest fun of the festival is dragon boat racing. Basically it is a paddling sport, the boat is narrow and long, paddlers range from 10 to 80 (or even more) sitting in 2 rows. Used to be a big event in old Hongkong when there were fishermen around ...... sigh.

Hello to all.

6:40pm Friday Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

I have a deal that will make some people a lot of money!.

My Saturday will arrive just after those of us in Fiji and New Zealand.

For those specifically in the US and Canada, on my Saturday morning it will be Friday afternoon (or thereabouts) where you live.

I will already know the results of your Friday night Lotto, Baseball and Football matches etc. because it's Saturday where I live! I've read the results in my Saturday newspaper!

So, if you want to place a winning bet and collect several millions of Dollars, just send me half of your entire stamp collection and I will give you the winning Lotto numbers or Basketball or Football score!

Do we have a deal?

Everybody wins!

Re: The Global - Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening (MAE) LOUNGE

Good morning (for a late riser like me, it is still morning at 11:42am) also from Austria.

It is a cloudy day, I guess there will be some rainfalls in the course of this day, and about 17°C. Not ideal for those who wanted to use the holiday yesterday together with an additional day off for a long weekend trip, but as I am in the office, I do not care very much about the weather today.

Best regards to the other Stamboards members all over the world.

Good morning from Scotland! It's 11am , nearly and 23 degrees without a cloud in the sky over Strathspey in the Highlands of Scotland.

It's the Grampian taste of Britain food festival in Inverurie (NE Scotland tomorrow) where mostly small local food outlets have stalls to promote their excellent food - tastings are free! :)

Good Morning to all from Kitchener, Ontario. It is 6:23 a.m. and I just read in the news that intermittent strikes have begun at Canada Post. Today it is Winnipeg, tomorrow ???

Times have changed ... the public does not care, the government does not seem to care ... and privatization is probably just around the corner.

Going out with a bunch of friends for breakfast, so am looking forward to a great day!

a tip of the hat to all!
