In most situations there is something good, if one just wants to see. The most happy people tend to be those who have next to nothing. So, it is up to me to decide if I feel happy or bad in normal situations of life. I rather feel happy when I cannot change the situation.

Well today I booked our vacation; late January/early February we will be going to Italy. I see that Princestamps visited San Marino last year; we have a car for a week (after a few days in Venice, Bologna, and Florence.)

I was hoping to visit the little Republic on a hill has anyone had any philatelic experiences there? Or perhaps any stamp functions/clubs/fairs in central Italy (outside and north of Rome)

It's been 14 years since I was in Italy last; it should be fun. But I'm open to suggestions--Perugia, Montepagano (near Roseto degli Abruzzi) and the surrounding hill country are planned......but with driving I like to keep my schedule flexible. No hotels booked while we drive; it's off-season and dirt cheap!

Just need to be back in Florence for our return flight Thursday Feb. 4th 2016.

So if I don't post for two weeks it's because I'm talking with my hands in bella Italia!
Have a nice trip to my Italia !!!

Fairs ... It seems no, http://www.fsfi.it/calendario.htm#Dicembre_2015

Also I don't have philatelic experiences with San Marino, the last time I was there it was in 1978 and I was ten years old !

If you plan to come to visit Verona, about 120km from Bologna, just let me know I could give some suggestions on what to visit.
It's my city !
No-one ever said it was easy. If it was it would be boring!

Reunited with my loved ones  ... I mean my stamps. However stamps and practically everything is still in boxes and will take quite some time to get organized. Also, my wife is on an extended trip to her home country, so I'll be also busy running the house.

 Hope you have managed to get a bit organized now Kuikka.

I know I haven't been very much of a regular over the last quite a few months here, but other things were a little more pressing and (quite willingly) took up my time!

Now, I am ready to come back but find that I am again being called away for short while.

I will make every effort to check in, but my daughter hasn't got the internet so it will be very sporadic for the next few weeks!

Happy stamping everyone!

I leave next week for what I can only describe as a challenge!

Middle daughter (of 5 ) is having an operation. I will be there to do the mundane things like laundry, cooking, cleaning, getting Sarah (grand daughter) off to school....all the fun things I thought I had left farrrrrr behind. Obviously, I was wrong!

This will be a test to my stamina 8) , my strength of resolve :) , my resourcefulness  , my sanity :?

I am going to miss my quiet time with my stamps

I'll be here on Stampboards until next Monday or maybe Tuesday....after that....I will be at the beck and call of my children. Well, one of them anyway!

Hi all, been busy past 4 weeks moving and cleaning. My Wife, Son and I got a loan for a house so I only have time to read posts on SB until we settle down and waiting to have the internet switched on here.

Missing posting on the KGV thread, and I guess my stamp purchases are now reduced for the next 20 years

See you soon.

I like it, The Wife might not accept stamps as house warming gift so I better be careful who I invite. Glen don't turn up with a Sunday night junk box as it might end up tipped over my head lol.

Thanks Brummie :D

Hello everyone

It must be Spring that's got us moving. I have also sold my house and bought another. I won't be playing with my stamps for a while as they are all packed up to move. I will be looking at the forum though!

Should be back in action in 6 weeks or so :)

Cheers,

Ariane

I'm off to South Africa for 2 months to indulge one of my other hobbies, photography.

I hope to get to a stamp club meeting while over there. I will be in Cape Town for about 4 weeks after being in Krueger and up north before that.

Here are a couple of pictures I took on my last trip.

I'm again heading off to desert for a while to work with some indigenous communities.. It's my second home and they are 'singing' me back so to speak.

So my absence may or may not be noted but, hopefully on my downtime I'll be able to check in and create the normal chaos!

Mail is slow in the middle of nowhere.

MargoZ - I'll be working from Alice Springs, and engaging with people Ali Curung, Yuendumu, Papaya and right down into the NPY lands.

I spent a year out in Central Australia in 2014 and it was just very magical.. A very special place that words can't describe. I find being out bush really eases my soul, especially after working long hours in crazy inner city emergency departments here in Melbourne.

Your right it is a big country out there with landscapes that change in the blink of an eye. Some folk say it all looks the same but I feel differently about it.. Amazing after a good soaking too.. So much to learn. Beautiful people.

Sounds brilliant. I've only been in the NT twice but I found it captivating and can see how people get hooked.
My daughter has spent some time in a couple of remote communities as an archaeologist and has endless respect for the people she met.

If you ever get a chance to sit with an elder it will change you forever - When I was last there I began a special friendship with a Ngangkari (Traditional Healer) and famous indigenous painter who taught me a great deal.. I'm also convinced to this very day he followed me in his totem form home to make sure I arrived back in Melbourne safely.

A very resilient and gentle people.

Working as an Archeologist out there would have been amazing.. I'm a social worker so i have the added bonus of being able to just sit and listening to the stories.

Excited!

I'll be away from the boards for a short while as I am moving to another town! Stamps are all packed (WAY to many boxes, will have to do something about that!) and I'm off to live by the sea. Should be back in about 3 to 4 weeks.

Well, Hello again to everyone. I'm back "on-board"! Took about 2 weeks to get everything moved and I'm exhausted, but starting to settle in my new place. I can see the Pacific ocean from my windows as I am on a hill looking down on the bay ---- nice!
Have all my stamps unpacked and in bookcases and am setting up my desk, so ought to be able to start working on sorting etc. in another week or so.
Sorry I'm unable to take part in the "Secret Santa" this year, but will double next year!

Hi all,

I'm not a very regular poster, although I do enjoy Stampboards a lot. Nevertheless I thought it worthwile to post here since I'll be away from the board for a good time, probably one to two years, hopefully less.

I have had to move abroad to accept a new position, sadly my wife couldn't come with me and she had to stay in Belgium, whilst moving to a smaller flat with a more affordable rent. After a very stressful period since October, I've finally found a stable home in Germany and the multiple moves are over.

However, I've had to realize that this new situation won't allow me much time for stamps, probably no time at all, to be honest. I can only hope to find new ways of coping with the increasing demands of young adults' life, but as far as stamps are concerned, I'm afraid that this won't happen in the near future.

Hopefully I'll still find time to pop over here every now and then and enjoy the fascinating threads that make this forum such a nice place.

Cheers :)

Just back after a year away. Life is so full....very, very busy at work (I am a doctor, with about twenty associated roles to juggle), with a beloved ten year old daughter immersed in competitive and time-demanding basketball and soccer. There was too little time for anything personal.

Happy to indulge again.
