I'm moving house in about a week, downsizing to be near the younger daughter so that we can be on hand for babysitting duties.

I doubt I'll be connected to the internet for a few days once we have moved.

For those patiently waiting for their Nicaragua stamps, they are on their way, just not as quickly as planned!

I will not be voluntarily moving house again. The stress of the last few months has made me suffer insomnia, which in turn, makes me crabby. I also haven't bought a single stamp since we decided to move in the spring ( I daren't!)

Had not noticed this thread before .... Great Idea Margo.

I'm inclined to leave stamps for a while. But my latest withdrawal was not laziness; just bad news about a family member last October (2017). That seems behind us now and brother is very upbeat so I'm praying a little and looking at stamps and other things again.

Been reading SB Forums over past few weeks to see what I've been missing. Sadly I've not much to offer amongst the experts here;
but I'll read and try learn.

This is a wonderful resource.

Thank You Each and All

Hello all!

It's been a while but for some reason I felt like coming back to Stampboards tonight and rereading old posts. Autumn in Canda is a good time for stamps as it is cold and rainy and you don't feel like going outside!

The desire to come back to stamping has been germinating in my mind the couple of weeks and I think I will get back into the thick of things in the coming days.

I will be posting new giveaway and swapping posts and look forward to talking to old friends!

Hope everyone is well and love to chat :)

Cheers,
Ariane

I've been quiet for a while.

I have just started my 14th month in hospital. I am mostly confined to bed because I have either been too sick, or have had many drains, drips, and monitors attached. Still have three drains at the moment, and they won't come out for about another three months.

Of the last 14 months I have spent an aggregate of about one month at home. Currently in St Vincent's in Melbourne under warranty, but being transferred back to Bright hospital as soon as patient transport can be arranged. Probably tomorrow or Wednesday (today is Sunday 4 November).

Four months ago, three doctors told me I wouldn't see October, yet here I am, and fortunately improving, albeit slowly. I now have my computer with me, but can't always get on line, however, I am trying to ease myself back into a normal routine.

My best friend has forbidden me to die, and I am trying my best to fulfill her wishes - although I have been pretty close a few times.

Best wishes to all. Live long and prosper!

Hang in there Hans, our thoughts and best wishes are all with you .... and you have proved 3 doctors wrong so far, so well done. :)

Having something to focus on like stamps is a huge boom at times like this when in hospital. And unlike most hobby activities, even if you are not able to be physically active, a lot can be done with stamps.

For folks whose main leisure pursuits are boating, golfs, gardening or bowls etc, etc, being in bed is a real issue, but with a laptop and internet, your friends on stampboards can keep in touch.

I note you bought a junk carton off me a few days back, and you said there you were using a lot of it for your stamp exchange partners, and that is a wonderful thing to focus on and get engrossed in. 8)

Sometimes, you don’t know you will be away, and then you only realise that it’s been so long when you come back. That’s how it is with me, online forums, and usually how I divide my time between so many different hobbies and activities.

I think it’s been close to four years now, since last I read or posted something on the forum, and I’ve not engaged much in any activities of a philatelic nature since then either.

My stamp collection has started getting a look-in again, however, though it might take a while before I am in control of what I have, what I want and what to sell. Also, whenever I look at my collection, I do feel that for me it is not so much the physical stamps in themselves that attract me to the hobby, but the appreciation for the art and design of them, so I might move my collection towards being virtual, though that will involve a lot of scanning.

In any case, I might be back.
