That is OK camelspotter, that is what this thread is for, to ask anything and get an answer, no matter how simple or hard.

camelspotter,

You properly mean that you want to post a new topic?

Go to the sub-forum you want to place your message in. Then click the button “new topic”, it’s on the left side of the forum, all the way at the top and one at the bottom. Either one work the same.

Thanks Tassie_stamps.

Wall - head - butt. Never give in.

I'm also practicing on the wrong thread too.

But thanks for your suggestion.

It may come to that in the end.

Hi KGV1

No need to head-butt the wall  Here's a thread to assist you- we recommend IMGUR now. Post here if you have any problems with it.

Can I add ?

Search your program function on your PC, there should be something called ' Snipping tool '
- so enlarge your image on your monitor
- open snipping tool
- cut and crop from your scan
- save the new crop

This retains the resolution, and can be uploaded to all of the sharing buckets. I use snip for e-bay, and its quick
.

Thanks margoZ. Brilliant.

Here's my IMGUR image:

Image

However, that's all very well, but mobbor will still tell me it needs to be larger.

It's the same size as PB but much faster.

I'll try Barry_E's strategy.

Bingo!

Thanks all.

I've been trying to post an image using my collection of images on Flickr but I keep getting the message that the size of the image cannot be determined. I can't find anything on Flickr about this - in fact I can't find anything that helps anywhere. Can Flickr stored images be used here or what? Help!

I hope I have come to the correct place ? I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but how do you put up an image of the front AND the back of the same stamp together ?

I have seen it done heaps of times here - but for the life of me how ????

I've got the basics worked out to post an image but this has got me stumped. And my 14 year old IT consultant !

Help please !!!

I am not too tech savvy either, but loading 2 images next to each other is the fast way I do it -

And if you do not want to separate them with a few full stops you get this -

Many thanks - I will struggle on. My smart-alec daughter tells me I'm on a "J" curve - you start off thinking you know a bit about it - realize you really know nothing about it - and then climb up the other side bit by bit.

I'd send her to her room if I didn't need her holding my hand !

She was talking about my computer skills - and is going the right way for a smacked bottom.

As for stamp collecting I will tell anyone that will listen - I know what you could write on the back of a stamp with a blunt crowbar.

I have often heard it said that my generation is the first to have the parents asking their children - can you show me how to do this?

Open the first image in your editing software, even plain old "paint".

Select properties (in Paint) and double the width of the image - if its 300 pixels wide, change it to 600. There will now be a blank area the same size as the original image added on the right.

Open the second image, "select" the image area you want and click copy.

Go back to the first image and press "paste". Grab the newly pasted image and move it to where you want it - on the right had side.

Save the new image that now shows front and back. :D

Your 14 yr old IT consultant will have 4 thumbs and has probably never heard of paint. :P

Other software may take less steps to do this, it all depends on your software.

***Not sure if this is allowed on this forum but the standard phpbb engine is***

Usually, You can actually edit your own post, so if you forgot to write something then there's no need to post 1-2(..3..4) posts but you can edit the previous one and add what you forgot to write in it.

EDIT: TESTED and it works! It's on the boom right corner of your post.

Tritrek.

You are correct , you can edit your posts, though only for one hour after posting.

This emphasises the importance of:

Using the "PREVIEW" button to check posts before posting, and

Checking & editing posts as required after the post has been made.

It's amazing the number of new members we get who post a complete mess & wander off without making use of either option.

Hi BillyBroadland,

Next time that you are starting a thread or replying to a post, highlight the word/s that you want in bold or underlined and click on the B for bold or u for underline (located above the posting window.)

I hope this helps.

Hi

I only joined last week so things are a bit new to me.

I posted on the 'introduction' page and have asked a few questions on the 'You ask the questions' board but have not had any responses. I was just wondering whether I had missed out anything that I needed to do before posting? Of course, it may be that no-one is able to answer the questions but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong!

Thanks

David

Hi, David,
it's all OK with your posts and questions. You just asked definite questions on definite stamps (from Trinidad and Lebanon) that require a definite reply from an expert, and such expert might have not seen your posts yet, or there might be no expert in this field in the Forums (which is rather doubtful).
So you have to be patient to have a reply, it doesn't work here as a feedback on a company's site, and you can't expect an immediate reply to any question :)

Thanks again :D

I am not in the least bit new here.

I have tried several times to do this, totally unsuccessfully, but how do I turn off the automatic e-mails from admin advising me of replies to my posts?

Months or even years ago I went through periods of not receiving these e-mails at all but now I am getting them in clumps of 50-75 e-mails which all have to be deleted individually.

My apologies for stupidity.

I guessed that it had to be an easy answer, I had previously been messing about in the "user control panel."

However the "Notify me when a reply is posted" is unchecked and has been to the best of my knowledge.

At one time (a couple of minutes ago) I had 374 subscribed topics and no forums out of the 418 in the "View your posts" category. I have now managed to delete all 374, one page at a time, so I now believe this has been achieved.

Thanks to you for your advice.

On a regular basis I have to do the following to stop receiving large quantities of Admin Emails re new posts to Topics I had posted in.

1.. Click "User Control Panel"

2.. On the left click "Manage Subscriptions"

Image

3.. Read the instructions under "User Control Panel" about marking the Forum or Topic then pressing "Unwatch Marked" button. (You will see I have 0 Subscribed Forums and 25 Watched Topics)

4.. Go to the bottom right of the Page

Image

5.. Click BOTH "Mark All" AND "Unwatch Marked"

Image

6.. All squares are now ticked. (You can untick those that you wish to be notified about)

7.. This screen then pops up - "No Longer Subscribed" (Also means "No Longer Watching")

Image
