Nomination for March 2021:

AMark
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=94387
March 2021 Cover Exchange Participant List

Nominating this wonderful thread, which has won already many years ago, once again as it truly brings Stampboarders together and because it is coming up to its 10-year anniversary in March :D

We have many worthy threads at the moment but I still think this very worthy of a new nomination.

Iain P
Collecting embossed escutcheons on revenue stamps

Nominating this great thread, as many of us have seen these, we know what they are, but we never look at the detail. This thread has made me go back and explore something I normally just file away in the "for another day" box.

A note in favour of the nomination:

Iain P
Collecting embossed escutcheons on revenue stamps
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=94024&p=7160568#p7160568

When I first saw this nomination, it prompted me to visit Iain's thread, for the first time.
I found it fascinating, especially his early discussion of illumination from above causing us
to perceive an escutcheon as embossed, whereas illumination from below causes us to
perceive it as debossed. Rotating the same image through 180 degrees switches our
perception between the two versions (even when we know it's the same image!).

I was so fascinated by this effect that I e-mailed a couple of the images to friends, with the
"explanation". Some appreciative feedback followed. :D

I would like to nominate;

A full Archive of Rodney Perry "Stamp News" magazine columns.

The original post is by CMJ but I realise there are a number of people involved.

At times a fascinating insight to the world of Postal History & a fitting Memorial to an expert in that field.

Not just for collectors of Australia. Some hints here for people (like me :) ) who might like to start their own postal history collection.

Priceless.

Thanks CMJ, fchd et al.

So far, we have two nominations for April.

Thank you to Mick, Terry, John and sagi2917 for the two April nominations! :)

Can we please get a few more nominations for this month? :)

Thank you!

For this month I would like to nominate:

Jeneralist

For her contributions to:
The Philatelic Bus. Touring country Queensland.

I can't nominate the originator of the thread as Ubobo.R.O won last month, but Jeneralist has been a regular contributor to this thread with a lot of scarce philatelic material.

:)
Specialist Collector of World Horse Racing Covers, Melbourne Cup & Kentucky Derby, & JFK fdcs.

Thank you for your nomination, Brad! :)

The end of April is approaching fast, Friday is the last day of the month for April nominations. If you do not nominate a member/thread before Friday, you will not get a chance until the next month.

Please nominate a member or thread before the end of the month. :)

Thank you!

Just discovered this beauty, fresh this month.

Iain P
Newspaper Tax stamps of Great Britain & Ireland 1712 - 1855

Just stunning and I learnt about an aspect of paperalia I never knew anything about and some great examples with some interesting examples shown. This member is on fire for such a newbie.

PS Just noticed one other of his threads is also up for the gong, lets hope he wins. A flashing diamond will look great in place of a static red star.
