Member ebay for his wonderful thread:

A great online catalogue of GB stamps of the last 7 decades. Much efforts put to post high resolution scans and descriptions. Sure it will be a very useful catalogue for philatelists. :) Thanks! Eli

aerogi,

Well, I can't say that it's not allowed.

But It would be the same as if you found something which you did not know what it was. So, your curious lead you to do a little investigation. You asked many questions, to different people and someone told you that you have found something that is out of the ordinary. You asked a few more questions and you were certain that the item is a very good find. Now, if it wasn't for that someone that told you what the item was, would you know what it is?

So, are you nominating yourself or someone else???

Thank you for the nominations and thank you for the vote and win.

I had very little feedback on the thread and thought it had only appealed to very few of the members. In the last few days a few more comments had appeared and the collector in Germany that supplied some of the images emailed me. His comments are below.

"Its very interesting that you, as an Australian, write an article about “Stadtgüterverkehr”- Bravo!!!

Thank you for the work in German private post!"

I guess that is the thing about stamps. We can (and do) have active interests in other countries stamps and study them without leaving home. For me the difficulty is my lack of skills in reading German. Almost all the articles I have and reference books are in German and it is a slow and laborious task to extract the information. That of course is one of the other nominated topics which I thought was very interesting to. (Stamps motivate us to engage with languages: http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=90529 )

I was trying to answer questions I had and provide some information (in English) so that others on the board could share in what I had gained. Over the years many here have enlightened me and I always like to try to give back.

I would also like to thank Kevin for his generous prize.

Thank you again, Darren

Darren,

Your thread is excellent! :D Just because you do not receive a lot of feedback, it doesn't mean that members are not reading what you have posted. As a worldwide collector, I have to say that sometimes I can't answer all/most of the questions that are posted by members.

Why? I do not specialize in a particular areas. I know that there are Stamboards members that have a lot more knowledge, in a give area, than me. You specialize in a given area that most do not. As a result, you have not received much feedback. But don't let that discourage you, you are doing an excellent job!!! :D

Hi Everyone!

Today, it's June 15th, 2020, which means that we have another 15 days to go in June.

Can we please get a few nominations for June? :)

I'd like to nominate aerogi for his fascinating thread on the Belgian "van Acker" surcharges:

Devaluation of Belgian stamps in 1946, with -10% called "Van Acker Issue"

It's been great to see so many examples from this issue which gets very limited coverage in most catalogues. :D

I would like to nominate Erich for:

"The US 1934 Parks Issue - How it was Designed."

A short thread but a most interesting one.
