I have not received my second gift yet, and I see that one of my gifts also has not yet reached its recipient. I expect that things were delayed because of the Canada Post strike - hopefully there will be updates soon! :D

My second Secret Santa gift came in today from Dubai .... well it is not so secret as everyone knows, there is only one camel delivery in that part of the world. :D  :D

The cover arrived with its flap open, the postie girl who delivered the letter at my home was very apologetic, fortunately the contents were intact .... or so I hope. :)
Image
Loads of miniature sheets and some really fancy ones - the worlds largest stamp from Thailand, a very fancy stamp from Andorra, and a large oversized mini sheet from Spain ... but the record for the largest sheet seems to be with India.
Image
The Luxembourg comic sheets are just wonderful as also the sheets from Slovakia, Oman, Qatar and Dubai. To top it all, two sheets from Faroe and Greenland that I collect.

Thank you very much my Secret Santa from Dubai :D
Really love the stamps you have sent me.

I've had many wonderful gifts from Stampboards' Santas over the years - and this year was no exception.

This first one was from India - thank you very much. Santa took the time to find out that I collected QV stamps and included a fantastic Prestige Stamp Booklet about the history of Hong Kong stamps! :D :D :D

Apologies for the lateness of recording these Secret Santa's but can I say a huge THANK YOU to my Australian and Philippine Santa's for some wonderful gifts.

First up, from the Philippines I received these wonderful Jewel Beetle mini sheets from China 2018 Asian International Stamp Exhibition - simply stunning;

Image

Then, from Australia a packet filled with wonderful gifts which fill half the kitchen table!

Image
Image

I particularly like the postcard showing the relative size of Australia and Europe and there's a ton of Australian stamps which will fit very nicely in my ever growing collection. Meanwhile, junior has spotted the animal mini sheets and I suspect they will end up in his album!

Thanks both for some wonderful gifts and Happy New Year to everyone.

Wow, part 2 of my Australian Secret Santa gift arrived yesterday (in addition to the book I already received). Inside a stunning cover was a lovely letter and just what I needed, a 2019 Wall Calendar! It shows beautiful Australian scenes and I am very happy that it will accompany me through 2019 :D :D

Thank you very much to my "not-so-secret" Secret Santa for the superb gifts. I am delighted with everything you sent :D :D

My Secret Santa recipient has not received their gift as yet it seems and although I sent it late due to various different circumstances, it should have arrived by now or will do so in the very near future (I hope).

As a balance to this, no Secret Santa has arrived under my Christmas Tree either so this could be an event of Karma.

None-the-less, I hope everyone had a great time with lots of fond memories of family and friends to tide them over until next year and that 2019 will be an exceptional year for you all.

Cheers,
Frank (Electric Chook).

P.S I did get an odd looking letter with Malaysian stamps on it though and for a short time I thought it was a Secret Santa. Unfortunately it was only a travel company (bogus as it turned out) celebrating 15 years in business by handing out free scratch-and-win tickets. Quite an elaborate scam but at least I won second prize (US $200,000.00) like everyone else getting the same mail. :P

I swung by the office today, and I'm happy to report that two of my Secret Santas have arrived. At least I think so, as there was no note or mention of said Santa, so a bt more emphasis on the 'Secret'.

One came from Greece, with a nice replica of the Parthenon, a statue of Mary (I'm guessing here) and a Greek snack:

Image

And the second came from New Zealand, with very tastefully selected philatelic goodies, showing off New Zealand's beauty, including a couple of presentation packs and a very generous Prestige Booklet, all coming in a nice envelope with a large Souvenir Sheet:

So thank you to my two Secret Santas! :D :D

Cheers,
Joel.

It’s Greek to me Joel but the base of your statuette reads KARYATIS . Caryatis, later Artemis , was a Greek goddess associated with nut trees.

I am really enjoying new Australian issues lately and these stunning beetles are no exception. Beautiful.
I'm having problems adding my scans through Imgur however my chrissy present was similar to that illustrated above. I concur that the beetles series is really stunning...a welcome addition to my Oz collection. as is the landscaping series from Pilipinas

Thank you to BGC Jaguig 1630 (if that is your stampboard name?)

To Santa Sweden and Santa S Korea , again big thank you to both.

I have awful problems with imgur as my scans are too big and they won’t up load.

Lots of interesting stamps stuff from both corners of the globe.

PS I have much enjoyed the Swedish Christmas tea ( Jul tea with cinnamon & other spices )

My second Secret Santa arrived in this fantastic cover:

Franked with a 2018 Holiday Destinations in India souvenir sheet
Image

Note the handstamp "SERVICE SUSPENDED / RETURN TO SENDER". Canada Post held rotating strikes across the country starting October 22, 2018, until they were legislated back to work on November 27. At one point Canada Post asked international postal services to hold mail destined for Canada until the backlog could be cleared. This cover was registered on Dec 3. Not sure if it did go back to the sender or if India Post just held it until service resumed. This is a great piece of postal history!

Inside were a ton of stamps, souvenir sheets, a maximum card, and a FDC of India's recent issue for the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. Great additions to our collections!

Image

Thanks Secret Santa!! :D :D :D

I have now received both of my gifts. One of my recipients has still not received his/her gift - hopefully it will arrive soon...

I gratefully received two Secret Santas prior to Christmas, one from Canada and another from India. Chocolates are always a welcome gift, I mean c'mon who doesn't loooove chocolates :D and I loved and have used the lens camera, the stamp gauge and enjoyed gazing at my new stamps.Thank you very much.

Image

I had to add that the Chocolates were amazing, I took them to my place of work and hid them (was not sharing these precious babies), I have been savouring each delicately flavoured morsel, a tiny piece of indulgence every day or two..... bliss.

I think I can recognise that Santa as the Canada Choccies look VERY familiar!

His franking is superb - your local PO vandals have ruined then with that yellow flouro sticker - never fear - dab tissues on it soaked in EUCALYPTUS OIL leave it a few minutes and it will peel off perfectly, with care with no trace.

The gift (which I had sent late) has arrived but as yet Santa hasn't shown up here.

I am not particularly worried though as two Christmas cards sent from family members just 190 kilometres away (as the crow flies) took 23 and 26 days respectively to arrive.

My trust and faith in Australia Post has plummeted to an all time low I am afraid and I just do not like purchasing or sending anything of any value through them because I feel there is only a 25 to 30% chance of said item arriving and if it does, the condition would be variable.

In saying that I must add that this is only the way I personally feel about the system and know that there are good honest workers within Australia Post. It's just that efficiency seems to have been allowed to drop off somewhat.

Cheers,
Frank (Electric Chook).

My last secret Santa has arrived. Love it all, the commemorative war poppy stamps were a highlight, and I especially liked the kind words inside the card. Thank you.

Also thanks Glen for the tip to fix what the postman did with his vandalism of my stamps, I am keen to try that trick!

2018 Secret Santa finally arrives.

Post by electric chook »

My 2018 Secret Santa has just arrived even though it had been sent in a timely manner on the 29th. of November 2018.

Thank you my Thai Santa for the book on early Hong Kong and the City of Victoria.

I have scanned the book cover and both sides of the package and when my IMGUR account lets me in, I will post same.

I know that some of you who use this system on a daily basis will quite possibly deride my failure to gain access but such is life. I have just spent a wasted hour trying but so far see no way forward past endless "I am not a robot" picture puzzles and "someone else has oened an account with this user name - is it you?' with no way that I can see (so far) of saying "yes it is me!"

Thanks again Santa.

Cheers,
Frank (Electric Chook)
