Nope.

Blowing up super low rez, heavily pixelated, out of focus images, just makes them fuzzier than ever before.

Buy a 50 quid Canon Lide scanner as most here use, perhaps? Se eproof below.

Terry, can you tell us who is owner of the Cairns Mulgrave Tramway page?
It's excellent, and a treat for collectors of Australian railways philately. :D

You will find it here Roger.
I was hoping to put it up on my thread but can't figure out how to make the writing larger.

All computers come with Snipping Tool as standard - why not use it?

You can't scan an entire exhibit frame in one scan and then whine the text is too small!

This took me 10 seconds -

Unfortunately it is the wording that goes right across the top of the page that is the problem.

I will simply find another exhibit that is in portrait format.

My sniping tool that I have used thousands of times is called Faststone Capture.

Some quick clipping and pasting rearranged the text into a more presentable format.

Still can't read it - needs to be as large as this text to be legible.

The intent was to show Terry that one can edit text and rearrange it to suit one's needs. Scanning and posting images is not fixed in stone. He has to think outside the proverbial box to achieve an end result. I could not improve on his low resolution scan.

The exhibits I wish to put up are all part of the ausvipex2020 virtual exhibition recently held in Hobart.

https://www.ausvipex2020.com.au/exhibits/

Is there a reason I can't put up any of them ? I was just going to put up ones from people I personally knew.
I believe these exhibits will be removed from the website on Feb 20th.
I particularly like entries 55, 12, 63 & 31.

It’s not unusual to have A3 landscape pages in exhibits. In fact we had a display at the club last season which had 8 boards of A3 pages.

In those cases although the heading could be at the top centre of the left half, the judges - if not already put off by A3 - would probably say it ought to be central to the page.

In the right scanning mode (ie professional/advanced or whatever it’s called by Cannon, you can make many adjustments pre-scan. In fact you can scan, adjust, scan again, etc, and try out several sets of settings by trial & error.

Increasing contrast and reducing backlight are both useful, and you can do extreme colour enhancement to bring out postmarks similar to some of the Retroreveal effects.

May I ask your help for identifying the attached 3 Pfennig stamp (imperforated, probably second half of 19th century)?

Hi rubiera. Don't forget to use the "Place Inline" button,, to avoid your image being surrounded by a white area,, with ATTACHMENTS written at the top - very unsightly - as in the image you posted. :ugeek:

Looks like we need more information to be helpful for dbuk1.
Please show us (here) an example of your latest effort (perhaps with a description of the steps you took).
.
Perhaps you could also try to copy and then paste this image of two Russian stamps, to show us what happens:

.<br />Russia, 1998: S.V. Kovalevskaya and E.R. Dashkova
.
Russia, 1998: S.V. Kovalevskaya and E.R. Dashkova
.
From Wikipedia we learn:

Sofya Vasilyevna Kovalevskaya (Russian: Софья Васильевна Ковалевская), born Sofya Vasilyevna Korvin-Krukovskaya (15 January [O.S. 3 January] 1850 – 10 February 1891), was a Russian mathematician who made noteworthy contributions to analysis, partial differential equations and mechanics. She was a pioneer for women in mathematics around the world – the first woman to obtain a doctorate (in the modern sense) in mathematics, the first woman appointed to a full professorship in northern Europe and one of the first women to work for a scientific journal as an editor. According to historian of science Ann Hibner Koblitz, Kovalevskaia was the greatest known woman scientist before the twentieth century.

Ekaterina Romanovna Dashkova (1743–1810), Russian princess, playwright, author, President of the Academy of Sciences, and founder and Director of the Russian Academy, was one of the first women in Europe to hold public office.
I hope you will gave us enough information/evidence to identify what you haven't yet managed to solve.

/RogerE ;)

KGV 1d Plate Plan 1 400dpi - Copy 2.jpg
Plate Plan

Help needed :
This had to be scanned upside down due to the size of the sheet,
I saved it to Documents, I then clicked on the item, and rotated it to the correct view.
Now when I view it in my Documents it shows a correct view, but when I post it here it is upside down.

Can anybody tell me what I've done wrong or how I can correct it so it's not upside down.

Best regards David :( :(

Thanks RogerE
i've finally managed to get the scans that size, which i need when i start a new thread.

My next hurdle is trying to get the images side by side, At the moment if i upload two single images no matter what they come out on the board underneath each other.

Not possible to do although if you add both images to the paint programme and place them side by side and then save as a jpeg you can then add here.

Have you resolved this issue yet?

This happens all the time for me.

My fix is this.

I upload the image into IMGUR, selecting size 1280 x 1024.

I then download the image back to my device & then reload that downloaded image back on Stampboards from my device. Works everytime.

Just that everyone is clear. I am not loading the image from IMGUR, I am only using IMGUR to resize my image. I am always downloading an image that is stored on my device.
