Maroon or carmine? Carmine is 1942, as stated, maroon is 1945.

Thanks for your help last time guys but I'm afraid I'm asking again. Having reached Turkey in my A-Z of my collection I've become stuck. Any help on the following stamps would be appreciated.

All these are from the Ottoman empire (Turkey before the end of WW I).

Stamps 2 and 3 you should find in a catalogue when you turn them vertical (piastre/paras is on the left). They are postage stamps.

Stamp 1 is likely a revenue stamp.

Stamp 4 is a revenue stamp in used state. As far as I remember, there was a tax on newspaper in the Ottoman empire. It was paid with revenue stamp that was fixed to the sheet before printing it. It got cancelled when it got printed over, as your example shows.

No problem. I am always happy to help. As a world collector it will not take much of my time to ID stamps. You are likely to find the revenue stamps in Forbin. It is in the internet.

The two revenues seem to be as follows:
- the red stamp is a 1 piastre Hejaz Railway stamp from 1912-13. This is not a railway stamp as such (ie. not like the British railway stamps which were used for conveyance of parcels via railways), but a revenue stamp which was used to pay a tax, the funds of which were used to build the Hejaz Railway.
- the blue one is a 2 paras newspaper or advertisement stamp, probably from 1891. As Kuikka explained it would have been affixed on the paper before the text was actually printed.

By the way, if you want to look these up in the Forbin catalogue (a 1915 catalogue of worldwide revenues), it's freely available here:
https://archive.org/details/ForbinFiscals1915

The catalogue is in French (but it's easy to follow even if you don't know the language) and you have to look up these Ottoman revenues under Turquie. Unfortunately the online version in the above link has some of the first few pages missing, but a complete version of the catalogue in two parts can be downloaded from here (it's also free):
