USA 2 Cent Washington. Scott #332/334? Help please

Post by byker1 »

This Mint OG Washington 2 Cent has marks to the upper back of his head in the hair

(Not the Black spot/mark)

Is it possible its an early stage of the cracked plate?

Thank you for your help

Probably not, unless you know for a fact this is the area of the stamp design where a cracked plate variety exists.

.
Scott specialized does list both a plate crack and a Rosette crack. For the life of me I can’t seem to locate any images of either.

Loran C. French encyclopedia of US stamps would be the go to reference material for this and I can’t find a copy anywhere.

I’ll keep looking and see if I can locate something.
