All I can tell you is it's a private post City mail for Hamburg. Pre 1900 when the private City postal system was stopped there were a number of Private and Messenger posts that operated.

The Private posts were generally later in the 19th Century and these City mails were operating about 1890 onwards.

Some of my dates may be slightly out, but it hopefully will give you something to look for.

regards
Mick

It may help to look up A.Salvador Jr, E. Viebig and P Siegert who all operated this sort of service in Hamburg and other Cities.

Hi Marty,

As Ubobo has already added the link to the thread you will have most of your answer.

There were two 3Pf blue stamps produced. One is perf 11.5 and is blue (Mi 11) while the other is perf 10 and is dark blue (Mi 16) with different paper. I would suggest yours is Mi 16 as the perfs, paper and colour seem to fit that stamp best.

In good condition it catalogues at €4. They are a popular stamp because of thematic collectors. There were also reprints made at a later date to service collectors. They are usually easy to pick because of the paper and perfs.
