Mexico 1874-80 Hidalgo Issue 25c Triple Print?

Post by VFND55 »

The stamp below is from Mexico, 1878-80 Hidalgo issue 25c blue Scott #109 with correct District Name, Number and Date (Zamora, 1, '81), unused without a watermark, perf 12. A typical low value stamp according to Scott Catalog.

On one quarter of the vertical side, the image of the stamp is inverted and on the other three quarters of the stamp the image is upright. On the horizontal side, I circled in red the value tablet with the number "2" showing and on the vertical side in red is the inverted image of "VEINTICINCO." Both of these images are printed on top of the base stamp. Since the letters/number are not reversed, this is not an offset.

Opinions are requested on this stamp if you think it was a triple print or not. Also, I understand on this issue only the 25c blue was printed on both sides, rare and expensive, but not on this stamp.
