I always intended to add some supplementary information
about my chosen stamp when it was identified. I will do
that now.

It was engraved by renowned Polish engraver Czeslaw Slania,
acknowledged in the lower right corner.

Issued by Greenland on 12 Sep 1968, it is a semi-postal, with
face value 60øre for postage, plus 10øre for child welfare. The
subject depicts two Greenlandic boys in Copenhagen, visiting the
famous Round Tower.
The 17th century tower and observatory Rundetaarn, or the round tower,
is the oldest functioning observatory in Europe.

When Christian IV built the tower, Denmark was quite famous for its astronomical
achievements thanks to the astronomer Tycho Brahe. When he died in 1601,
the King wished to continue Brahe's research, and thus the round tower came into being.

It has been a while since the scientists left, but the observatory is still used by amateur
astronomers and the many visitors. The observatory is encircled by an outdoor platform
from which you have a magnificent view of the old part of Copenhagen.

To get there you need to walk up the spiral walk, which is 268.5 meters long at the outer
wall and only 85,5 meters long close to the core of the building. This means that you walk
around 209 meters to get to top even though the tower is only 36 meters tall...

This walk also leads to the library hall, which once housed the entire book collection of the
university. The famous Danish writer H.C. Andersen used to visit the library and he found
inspiration for his work here. Today the hall serves as the framework for exhibitions of art,
culture, history and science...

As a new attraction you can now see the tower's core by standing on a glass floor, hovering
25 metres above the ground. The glass is more than 50 mm thick and can carry up to 900 kg
per square meter.

As usual, Wikipedia has much to tell and show us, including this view:

Interesting, thanks Roger. I was wondering if there was a castle in Greenland that I did not know about!

Since nobody seems to have posted about my previous clue, and since it has now been more than 24 hours, here's another clue...

Again, a child features here in the design although the issue doesn't directly relate to children. Apologies for the lack of a good quality image.

Catweazle, are we allowed to ask tentative questions?
(Say, one per person per image?)
If so, I ask the obvious question: Was your mystery stamp
issued by an African nation?

In the absence of another hint/clue, I'll ask another question:
Catweazle, was your stamp issued by a Pacific nation?

Ubobo.R.O. — if PNG is a question, where's the question mark?
If it's not a question but an answer, you know the rules — you
have to identify the stamp explicitly! [A Friend  ]

Good progress on this thread, thanks Ubobo.R.O. and Catweazel :!:

The mystery stamp is in fact one of a very interesting series of 19,
issued in 1973 (with top values $1 and $2). Here is another look
at the mystery stamp, from bottom left corner of the sheet, and
without that quarter circle "cancellation" (added to comply with a
rule about not depicting unused stamps, in case the image might
be misused to create fake stamps):

No need to send the stamp Mr Catweazle but you can always send Maggie Mailbox another postcard. It's her birthday this Saturday.

I believe that I have to put up the next challenge. So here we are.

Yes Ubobo.R.O., and we would also like details of the stamp...

In the first post initiating this thread [Tue Apr 29, 2014 23:28:00 pm]
joelk wrote:To create a chain, we have a simple rule: the winning guesser
has to put up a stamp that has at least one thing in common with the
stamp they guessed, out of the following three:

1) Country
2) Year of issue
3) Theme.

This will give a clue to the next guessers and so on.

If the stamp is not guessed within 24 hours, the person posting the stamp here must give a clue.

So, does your stamp have at least one of the following three characteristics?

1) Issued by Papua New Guinea
2) Issued 1973
3) Children/family theme [I'm not sure what theme was being considered]

Thanks!

Hello Ubobo.R.O.

Presumably the new mystery stamp fits at least one of these categories?
1) Issued by Papua New Guinea
2) Issued 1973
3) Children/family theme ...
Is that a shirt collar we see?

A belated acknowledgement to casmx.

Thank you for the very nice Geneva United Nations cover (4 Oct 1969),
which has safely reached me. I received it with some other mail which
our daughter collected from the Wallsend Post Office recently — making
sure her poor old parents don't go out unnecessarily in public just now.

The cover was nicely illustrated (back in the good ol' Imgur days) at
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=54430&start=431

Please note that the world map on the UN emblem is from the perspective
of the North Pole, just like my post at
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=51719&start=30

There are some interesting maps there: if you haven't already seen them,
I hope you'll have a look. :D

Does its year of issue begin with "20"?

If the stamp is not PNG or 2003 then the theme must be children/family.

Wolfgang, that Terry fellow is a naughty boy.
He seems quite unwilling to post links to other Stampboards threads.
As a community service, I suggest you use this link

to find a clear hand-written address for him on a Film Buffs' Convention cover.
