Be aware of possible MAIL DELAYS due to Covid PO Disruptions

Post by Global Administrator »

Be mindful of possible MAIL DELAYS to your swaps/prizes/exchanges due to Covid-19 PO Disruptions globally -

https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=89367&start=50

As all are aware, every country has its own advisories and delays and cautions - in many cases things are pretty much normal, and in some cases weeks or extra transmission is expected. See thread above for more details.

Could anyone from Germany confirm that their post have suspended sending anything abroad, in particular the UK. I ask because a seller on eBay has just cancelled my order for this very reason. Thanks in advance.

I received a letter today from Germany. There are no postmark's but it has been mailed less than 2 weeks ago. So, the mail may be slowish but at least letter mail is moving quite normally.

German Post has not informed about any suspension of mail to UK. Within Europe the indicate only possible delays for a few European countries. A red flag (No mail acceptance) to Moldavia and Montenegro only.

Scroll down to "International Mail and Parcel Services" and click the "+" oj the right side of "Europe".

Thank you for the response. The seller in question said that his post office refused to take his envelope, saying it would just go into a large pile of mail which wouldn't be sent for at least a fortnight.

As widely reported elsewhere here and in my stamp columns, Germany have refused all mail to here for a month or so, and returned it to sender, and A.Post cannot send mail to Germany (or much of Scandinavia, and v.v.)

Germany-Australia Mail returned to the sender.

Many large countries will not send mail or parcels to Australia, and Australia cannot send any there. These include Germany, most of Scandinavia, and Canada, and more are added weekly sadly - full regularly updated global details here - https://www.tinyurl.com/CovidMail

Stampboards members posting purchases and swaps to each other are now often seeing them returned by their Post Office.

An early April, Paderborn Germany Priority Airmail sending to Melbourne is shown nearby, with the German PO sticker translating as - "Postal traffic to the country of destination is currently interrupted. The resumption date is currently not foreseeable. Return To Sender."

Glen, those stamps I'm supposed to send you were on the way as of the 23rd. Not sure how long they will take to get there...

Do you know problems in the United States with the International mail?

I sent a registered letter from my city to Pennsylvania on March 20. The letter has been ON THE WAY for more than a month, in Spanish Post locator.

Canada post just accepted a small packet going to Australia. I read Glen’s comment above before I went,
and asked before mailing it. Postmaster said computer didn’t say it wouldn’t be shipped and they were allowed to accept it.

Problem is, I may not know if it arrives as it is going to a friend of Glen’s who has no email. (US fdc)

I will advise if it comes back in a bag with a sanitized label.

Last week I received an Ebay item that was posted from South Africa to Canada. It was mailed January 24th.
