Bottas has just been moved to the back of the grid (or 17th?), alongside Verstappen, for having an engine change...

This was mooted by some from either Hamilton or Bottas - or both.

THREE star drivers starting in the last 3 places -- these rules re changing engines really is pretty farcical!

How does Bottas start 3 places AHEAD of Verstappen if Bottas only now just made this decision, does anyone know?

''The team expects that the Finn, who originally qualified seventh, will start from 17th place – which will put him three spots ahead of Lewis Hamilton's title rival Max Verstappen.''

Of course Mercedes aren’t going to signal to Red Bull whether they are likely to change their power units, and haven’t firmly indicated one way or another so far.

With the championship fight so finely poised, Mercedes cannot afford to risk a race-ending power unit failure. If they were seriously considering changing Hamilton’s power unit, they now have a strong incentive to do so this weekend, as Verstappen’s points-scoring potential is already seriously compromised.

It could make for the strange sight of the two championship contenders lining up at the back of the grid, with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari and its fresh power unit for company.'

I believe that an engine penalty is a 10 place grid drop from the qualifying position. So, Bottas originally qualified 7th and with the penalty now starts 17th.

Verstappen, however, did not set any time in qualifiying so he starts last regardless of his penalties (10 places for using a new engine and 3 places for the Monza incident).

Plating penny blacks is easier than understanding F1 regulations

Joel, how do I do? I want to accumulate my prize 2 because I want the third prize: the KEVII £1 green. But it's the only alternative prize 2 i want, so what if another prize 2 winner takes it first? Do you need it on an email, or what to do?

Hi Michael,

I cannot guarantee of course that you will have no competition for the KEVII. The likelihood that someone will grab it before you do is not that high in my view as you are the only Stampboarder currently accumulating (JKA has claimed his Prize 2), and you have a head start of one sprint on the next person, provided they also decide to accumulate.

Since the KEVII stamp has remained unclaimed for the last couple of years, you have a good chance, but I cannot guarantee it. Such is the game. If someone else grabs it, you will have to choose another alternative Prize 2.

Cheers,
Joel.
