Just Got My First Free 'Stamp News' Beer Duty Stamps

Post by fromdownunder »

One was Sixteen Gallons (No. 153123), and one was Twenty (No. 283129).

What did everybody else who subscribes to Stamp News get?

I still have not set up my scanner! (Yes, I know  ). If nobody posts one by about 6:00pm, I will walk up the road to my daughter's place (she should be home from work by then), get a scan from her, and post it here.

Maybe Kevin will visit here in the meantime and post some for us. :D

Haven't even got my copy of the Stamp News with the duck stamps yet - wonder whether with all that mail and the Hari Raya (to celebrate the end of the Muslim fasting month) break, whether they just got lost or still at customs or what    . Hope they turn up and then I can tell you which beer stamps I got.

Cheers

Please note I did not get this one, but this is just a sample of the sort of items you will get over the next year or so, which I stole from a thread Kevin contributed to a little while back:

My two are for "bottled beer", and are blue in colour.

My copy will take at least another week to arrive in the UK I reckon, however, I'm looking forward to seeing what I get - from memory Kevin said they would all be different. If only he was giving away 16 gallons of beer, umm beer...I'm off to the fridge!

Sell what you get for beer on Ebay.

I have just sent Glen a hundred secondhand blankets for something I bought off him.

He does say in his adverts that he accepts anything in payment, including blankets!!!!

Yes folks, I decided to relent and let you all have the same Duty Stamps each month, will stop a whole lot of squabbling I feel.

Now you didn't really think I would individually number each one did you.....?

Aaawwww! Kevin, that's no fun. (moping smiley required). I wanted bragging rights some time in ther future for getting a "rare" one.

In real news, I haven't seen any of these on ebay yet.

Kevin,

Still waiting for my October and November issues. Have a feeling that they may have been lost in the mail or something.

There was the Ramadan month and with the additional mail it is possible that they may have just wandered off, dumped somewhere or simply swiped (for the nice stamps you put on the envelopes.)

Any chance I can get a back copy of each. Will be happy to pay for them.

Cheers
Andrew

Kevin,

Just to inform you that I received the replacement copies of Stamp News which arrived on the 20th of November, in a white envelope (the top of the envelope torned off) with the September, October and November copies were inside.

Thanks so much for sending them - will be giving the September copy (this one I received safely before) to another friend and hope he will start a subscription with you.

Am praying that the December copy will arrive safely with nice stamps on the envelope (hope the stamps don't get peeled off or disappear and the freebies will be intact).

Thanks again, the kind of service you are providing is highly appreciated and will be remembered.

Cheers
Andrew

Glen,

Thanks a million. That's really golden service - getting something from someone else whom you did not ask in the first place. Thanks again.

I sure would like the goodies especially the duck stamps but kind of shy to ask. But anyway, if Kevin is reading this, I hope he can send those goodies which will be very much appreciated and treasured. Thanks in advance.

You guys have been very nice to me and I like to wish you both many happy years in return.

Cheers
Andrew

How many Stamp News reprints of the Beer Duty stamps exist? Are they the same set of 26 reprints that is being offered for sale here on SB, or are those separate reprints of the same original designs?

Only one printing was done, 13 years back.

Mostly supplied in singles to subscribers at the time, as can be seen above.

A lovely re-production as the "real" ones are very expensive and very hard to source.

Take a Lifetime Subscription to Stamp News, and you got "complete sheets" of them.....

Thanks for all the replies and for clarifying that there was only one reprint.

I recently purchased a set of reprints online since I was curious about them and I probably will never have the originals. Is Barefoot's catalogue value of £5 per stamp (for mint remainders of the originals) realistic or are they undervalued?
