Thanks, Ubobo.R.O., for the input. So for me to just be sure....only soak:

001, 004, 005, 020, 022, 023, 024, 025, 026, 027, 028, 029, and 030.....

And store everything else without soaking?

Do I have that right?

What about these? Someone just glued the backs of the booklets to the package, maybe thinking it would be special? If I soak it, I'll just get a handful of peel and stick singles.

Edit: Looking at the piece I just realized someone got this from Eastern Auctions, so the guy packaging was probably just trying to save time.

The above three look difficult to soak and get out of the water and into the Desert Magic II book without tearing some perfs.

I'd love to be able to soak and dry these perfectly intact.

Anbody have a secret tip for getting large sheets out of the water in one piece?

Hi Don,

Here is my two cents on whether to soak or not the Canadian stamps on piece...

#1 - The Year of the Snake SS and Wallenberg singles were issued in 2013. I can't read the date on the postmark, but if it's in 2013 I would leave the stamps on piece because they are used in period.

#4 - I would also leave it on piece because of the 2012 Grey Cup Pane and 2012 Joe Fafard SS used in 2012. (Again, use in period.)

#5 - I can't see the date on the postmark, but it looks like they were sent in 2012? If so, this would mean that the Titanic singles and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Pane were sent in period.

#20 - The UNESCO SS and Photography were issued in 2014 and it looks like they are being used in period.

#23 - Year of the Ram singles and Mandela were both issued in 2015. If the postmark read 2015, I would not soak.

#24, #25, #28 - I like the high value stamps and as a result I would leave them as is.

#26 - The 2015 NHL goalies on piece postmarked 2015? Yes, leave on piece. (If it's from 2015 and you want to sell it, please let me know.)

This is what I have done when soaking souvenir sheets, off of a cover or piece, to keep them intact. (I don't do this very often because I like to keep them on covers or piece.)

Anyway, I place the item (face side down) for soaking in a rubber tub that is much larger than my cover or piece. I let let it soak off the paper and once it's free, I slide a clear plastic sheet (an overhead projector plastic sheet is the best but a page protector plastic sheet is also fine) under the souvenir sheet. Once the water is calm, I raise the plastic sheet slowly at one end getting a side of the souvenir sheet to be caught by the plastic sheet. Once it's on the plastic sheet, I raise the plastic sheet slowly out of water.

I let the souvenir sheet dry on the plastic sheet up to a point where I can remove it slowly from the plastic sheet and place it in a Desert Magic Stamp Drying Book.
It does pay if you are humble and kind.

That suggestion gave me an idea. I asked my wife to keep an eye out for a rug hook plastic screen. I'm going to try to just let the block fall onto the screen then pick up the whole screen and let it drain on a tea towel until it's dry enough to move.
