And a different make up rate. The $ 0.01 is most commonly used to make up rates when the domestic rate increases by $ 0.01. This cover uses the $ 0.55 + $ 0.01 to get to the $ 0.56 rate for up to 20 g standard letter or postcards by sea mail to "all other countries".

Up to maybe 50% of what I would consider exhibit level. Little competition for the material in Canada.

Folks,

We has seen some of the hard to gets of this series posted. So what about the easy to gets? The 37c Postal Services is probably one of the easiest being an internal letter rate when the series was first released. The challenge is to try and find something interesting from the easy to gets. This one fits the bill I think 37c x 3 overpaying the $1.10 airmail rate to Zone 5. Its clearly commercial even though slightly overpaid. Someone for convenience sake as said stuff the extra cent, I have three 37c stamps that will do in my opinion.

P.S. Glen I tried to rotate it a number of times and it would not work and then told me I have to update my account for third party hosting.

Agree, Tim, the 15c to uprate Aerogramme is a particularly nice item for this denomination, which is elusive used for a specific purpose.

Folks,

This is a similar item to the upgraded aerogramme. Though this time using the 10c Transport. Again a difficult stamp to find specific upgrades or solos for. Its upgrading a 50c 1986 Christmas Aerogramme for the 60 cent rate. Used on 4 December 1989 from Robertson to a hotel in Switzerland.

I thought it was a nice thing to put for my 3000th post.

Would this be a elusive used for a specific purpose.Since it wasn't used pre-paid within Australia but used & uprated to New Zealand.

Behold... an elusive 53c Primary Industry solo franking paying intrastate surface rate for non-standard articles, 21 June 1988.
Image
On a related note, this 60c solo franking, postmarked 29 August 1990, was up for auction on eBay last night (item number 112546080194). My Brusden White ACSC catalogue has this stamp listed only as "largely for make-up use" as of 23 August 1990, but here it appears to be paying an intrastate surface rate for non-standard article, which at 60c would seem a logical step up (or possible overpayment?) from the earlier 53c and 55c rates.
Image
The 60c wasn't replaced until 1992 so it's well within period. Bidders agreed... it sold for $A108.50 after 13 bids. Living Together's bargain basement days are definitely drawing to a close.

Apologies if you were the winning bidder and came here to show it off...

Folks,

Yes the Living Together series is on the rise. There are several very keen collectors of the series and good covers are genuinely rare. Some extremely rare. This is the recipe for higher prices.

Hi,

I've got a few Solo's. Are any of them sleepers? I've numbered them.

Like the One I posted above. Australia pre paid (within Aust)+ 15c to NZ on Thu Sep 07, 2017.
#1 55c x 2 from View Bank Vic & Mulgrave Vic
Image

#2 60c Card Only frm Geelong & Smaller 65c Cover from RushCutters Bay NSW
Image

#3 65c x2 one to NZ & the other to Aranda ACT. yellow envelope is 280mm long cover
Image

#4 75c from Cairns & the 90c from Canberra.
Image

#5 I put this in because they used 2x 30c instead of the 60c.
Image
I've never listed anything on Ebay before (Not Sure How to.lol) but if that's the prices for some (re: Aladdin's post above).
I might have to learn quick.

Thanks
Peter

The $ 100 one mentioned above was quite unusual. Most will not break $ 10 and a few will get to $ 25.

Bear,

Use of the $1 to Zone 5 is one of the most common usages of the series that you will come across. However this one looks about as nice as you could find. The Barrier Reef envelope looks stunning. There is a bit of a crease near the stamp though.

Yes it does seem odd, at first i thought the 2c had been added on later but it's tied with the $1 to the cover.

It's that 'little extra' needed to get it across the border

Anyway, picked up a couple of covers in this series at the weekend. Sadly, however, the computer linked to the scanner has died so as soon as I can I'll get them scanned and up here.

Nothing too spectacular, just a couple of $1 rates, an 80c solo use and a 60c as part of a make up rate.

Yes, Gary, a most encouraging outcome, particularly for an International.

Proof yet again that one does not have to spend squillions to form a bespoke exhibit.

All,

An interesting use of the 30c. Underpaying the Zone 5 Economy air rate of 80c, by 9c if you take the Postage Paid as 41c.

Not sure how it got through without any notification by Aust Post

I found this fun cover a while back - wasn't really collecting Living Together specifically, but couldn't resist it when I saw it!

13 x 3c Local Government stamps and 2 x 1c Religion stamps sent from Manly, NSW. I think the date is 20 Nov 1989 - with eight cancels, it is a pity one at least is not clearer! I think these stamps cover the recent rise to 41c for a local letter rate in late 1989?

Image

Perhaps the stamps were chosen as a bit of a joke from one government department to another at the Local Court?

Again, apologies none of these have the postage rate worked out - will slow down enough one day and apply myself to learn this properly!

A bit beaten up, but a cheeky solo use of the 2c Industry sent from Adelaide to Park Holme, SA on 1 May 1989.

The local letter rate at the time was 37c, so significantly underpaid, but it snuck through the system without being taxed!

This one did get taxed, but I am unsure how the tax has been calculated - can anyone please clarify this??

A lovely single usage of the 53c Primary Industries on a postcard to Seoul, Korea.
The cancellation is hard to see, apart from 1989. Fortunately the sender has included details which indicate it was written on 1 Jan 1989.

And a $1 Emergency Services used on a postcard to Yugoslavia.

Unfortunately, the cancellation is too light to make out anything much! Can anyone read the text - maybe there is a reference to date there?

I wasn't going to post this one because one of the stamps used is way out of period. However, I haven't seen many covers with a Living Together stamp with the reprint icon, so decided to share it:

Sent from Adelaide on 26 July 1994, using a 25c Housing stamp 2nd reprint (two koalas), with a 2c Ten-Pin Bowling and 75c International Year of the Family...and unfortunately, the 18c QE11 from 1977!

Here's one that arrived into my P.O. Box last week:

A 1988 37c pse uprated with the 63c "Living Together" for the current $1 local postage rate. Unfortunately Mr Fahour's machine canceller did not print too well.
