After LGBT+ History month, we have had two more slogans used. Valentine's Day, examples from Cornwall Mail Centre and North & West Yorkshire.

I like you.

And then short-notice warning of Pancake day which was (I believe) only used on Monday, for delivery on Tuesday leaving very little time to get the ingredients, though that could be classed as an essential journey. This from South East Anglia Mail Centre.

Royal Mail changes their slogans so frequently it's hard to keep up! But that makes it all the more challenging and enjoyable to collect them! :D

Thanks for that Nigel, I’m gutted I missed out on this stamp now as, even being telegraphic, it seems a fairly scarce cancel.

The old-style counter handstamps that Les is showing belong to a bygone age and are something to be admired compared with the modern self-inking-datestamps. There is no doubt where that postmark of West Marton is from, not where it is geographically located - although some did have an inscription which reflected GPO organisation (with the name of the county that the Post Town was in).

But modern ones.....
(I do know where this is from but if anybody who reads this thread would like to guess it will save me putting it in the 'Ask a question' folder.)

Bradford Road Post Office self-inking counter datestamp 26/02/2021 - but where from?

Not all wavy line postmarks are vague as to their locality.

High St PO locality - no idea!

Post Office - Belfast, High Street
12 - 16 Bridge Street, Belfast, BT1 1LT, Co Antrim, UK

Bridge Street is just off High Street.

That's distinctly possible, although was originally told that it was Bangor. But Bangor's POs are not in the High Street and don't appear to have been.

Nonetheless, the ink-jet was from Northern Ireland Mail Centre, so Belfast handled it. If it is indeed the main Belfast PO I find that incredible.

The post office at Stoneclough closed down some years ago (I suspect that it went following the swingeing 2007 review and subsequent closure of many post offices).

In a way it is perhaps more understandable, local people would know where High St post office was, they would not need to add Belfast and it was probably local people who ordered the handstamp.

According to the internet Chirbury is a village in west Shropshire, England. It is situated in the Vale of Montgomery, close to the Wales–England border, which is to its north, west and south. The post office counter handstamp suggests that it is in Powys, Wales.

Chirbury indeed is in England, but it used to come under Monty as a post-town.

I like the way the border follows the contours and often visited Church Stoke for the car boot sale and discount supermarket - and get Welsh-language post office material!

Google maps showing border between Wales and England in part of southwest Shropshire.

Harry Tuffins is an interesting supermarket. I go to the one in Craven Arms more often than the Church Stoke branch. The range of goods is somewhat different to an urban supermarket! I've never been to Church Stoke boot sale though.

We're digressing somewhat but we too go to CA branch because our bases is near Much Wenlock. Of course the Tuffins family sold out some years ago, but are still/again involved with the CA branch.

The Post Office is in the Church Stoke supermarket. It will be interesting to see if the CB sales start up again - I think they stopped before the pandemic hit.

Another recent one ...

British Science Week, 5 - 14 March 2021, Swindon Mail Centre

Someone asked if the postmark database was still updated (about six months ago), and I don't recall seeing a reply.
I've found "about 50 of their wants list" to process, but I'd only scan and post "if they are going to be useful".

Swaps - I'll have your layout for my blog, and supply the other layout!

The Sheffield one should have the Royal Mail logo at left, but the person who sent it to me only sent what is shown.

We seem to have passed by International Women's Day last Monday which had postmarks used on Saturday:

Hmm, that looks like another of those prevalent forgeries ... :(

(Never a problem on the receiving end, as they are worth a lot more!!).

Absolutely correct. I had asked for a sample after I was consulted about them and confirmed it.

The buyer contacted Royal Mail - who wouldn't ever tell him whatever they were doing - and the Police Action Fraud department. The latter said that there was insufficient material on which to pursue the case ((I don't know what he told them), so he has "decided to use them as RM don't seem to care". This one passed through with no charges.

Right, so he isn't the receiver of the item on a postally used packet, he is (allegedy, by your italicised quote) "a user of known forgeries".

I'm sure YOU realise HE is committing a criminal offence EVERY TIME he uses one, as he has no defence of "knowing or believing them to be genuine".

If one had turned up on a large letter to you, would you have been happy to pay a penalty fee?

As an RM trusted partner, are you allowed to turn a blind eye "to this kind of fraud"?

RM seem out of control.
