Alright everybody I need your help..... Glen offered the following lot:

QLD 1882 2/- to £1 Large Chalons “unused” set 5. $A65 in November 2013.

Unfortunately he can not find it..... hmmm

I was hoping everyone can scan the photos from his house and see if we could as a collective hunt the lot down....

I am thinking the dining room table, 3rd pile from the right, about 4/5th the way down... it kinda looks like there might be a stamp or two there.....?

Anyone have any ideas..... I love the lot.... lol

Stampboards crowdsourcing - I love it!

(From Wikipedia: "Coined in 2005, the word "crowdsourcing" can apply to a wide range of activities. Crowdsourcing can involve division of labor for tedious tasks split to use crowd-based outsourcing, but it can also apply to specific requests, such as crowdfunding, a broad-based competition, and a general search for answers, solutions, or a missing person.")

I was just having another look at this thread and smiling at the photos - my husband suggests that when we retire, he will buy a separate one bedroom unit near our home for me and my hobbies - I can't imagine a better idea :)

Maybe some other stampboarders could take this suggestion to their significant others?

Hee hee :)

Regards to all.....

I really feel free of anxiety now. I was real worried about my neurons with the mess in my stamp room. After seeing those pictures I feel like a stuff shirt accountant with every detail perfectly in place. But... its not. Great topic!!!

Glen,

You live in every stamp collectors dream home.

I don't think I could ever leave once stepping inside.

I loved the tease! Sticking those amazing singles haphazardly next to the lap top.

You live in an amazing world.

Thank you for sharing.

That was going to be my next question Tassie_Stamps...what's in the oven...come to think of it, are there any plates etc. in the cupboards?

They'd make perfect storage for albums!

I could be very happy there for a very long time

Interestingly things do actually move in time in Glen's photographs. The plant in the shot above has moved across the room, certainly since it appeared in the August 31, 2012 photograph. It actually looks a little healthier now, although as a partially trained former zoologist I should arguably not be expressing opinions on plants.

Kindest regards

The question is, did the plant spring from a random seed blown in that found fertile soil, or was it actually placed there with a purpose - to supply oxygen perhaps?

you know that is funny.... because I haven't seen that gorgeous granite counter top in my kitchen since we moved in last year and none of it is covered by my stamps. Yet my office still shows 50-60% oak desktop (with 25% being various bills) and all my albums are neatly stacked in the closet. But I think you are right... between a couple SOMEONE is neat and SOMEONE is the messer.

A suggestion for Glen to clear out his space.

Sell tickets at the front door, 250 dollars each, and allow anyone to take anything they can get into one armful in five minutes.

No boxes or bags allowed.

That would be a fun lucky-dip.

My stamp room is part of my "man perch" which is the top story of a 50s-style Cape Cod my partner and I live in. He took the downstairs sun room and I got the top floor.

Try to keep things neat-ish but still some clutter here and there
Image
My stamp desk with my beloved catalogue library for easy access, though running out of space for it! (currently working on integrating my father's New Zealand collection into my own)
Image
The philatelic corner (most of the albums along the wall are empty, my old albums from when I was seriously collecting the first time around. Not sure what to do with them, would seem a shame to throw them out (they are all Scott International pages, divided by country, with the 1840-1940 section on Vintage Reproduction pages of the Big Brown).
Image
My computer corner (apology for the dark/blurry pic)
Image
My history book reference library. It runs all along the one wall and then around the corner and ends at the edge of my stamp desk. Another one of my collectibles, and I am trying to get at least one general history book on every nation in the world, and I am pretty close to that goal.
Image
Finally my other collectible, music. All those brown boxes (and there is another full row of them to the left where the picture cut off) are full of CD-Maxi singles, most of which I want to *someday* rip to 320kbps mp3, but as anyone who has ripped CDs to make digital copies, the process takes forever and with over 5000 CD-Maxis, that is just something that I do in bits and small groups for now.

Overall I think its a nice setup, so long as I try to keep it organized to a degree so I can find things!

But... where would be the fun in that???? At least newcomers to the board can see that some of us operate in organized chaos - or is that chaotic organization

As some members can attest to, I have one room that's MOTH-free (he doesn't set foot in there, nor does he complain 8) ), but he does take exception when I open the curtains - seems the sight is enough to frighten the neighbour's horses :?

But I can't compete with the Master - thank goodness
