Has there been a Coronavirus-themed stamp issued yet?

Post by Phila-Tourist »

Count yourself lucky! The sensitive surface of the stamp (genuine, soft toilet paper after all) might not have survived the trip to Australia without protection by an outer envelope.

That is a registered cover. So the sender would have taken it to the post office. Whose staff presumably looked at the destination. Then accepted the letter, only to have it returned by the mail processing centre as undeliverable? Shouldn't the moronic counter clerk have alerted the sender of the suspension...? If I were the sender, I would demand my postage back! Seriously. With EUR 2.75 postage + EUR 2.75 surcharge for charity that cover cost over 11 euros. That's lunch in a cheap restaurant.

COVID-wise, the Austrian Post is still firmly stuck in mid-2020. Postal links with 101 countries and territories outside Europe are still suspended. Never mind that many of these countries are served by several flights per day and that most receive their mail from Austria via a non-restricted transit hub such as Frankfurt or Paris or London. I suspect that Austria's senior postal operators and managers would need an entire working day to find all these 101 countries on a map if you took the index and their Internet away...

And the seller charged me 1 euro to make the cover up for me and 3 euros to post the cover to me inside another envelope after it was returned to him. So the cover cost over 15 euros, but it is still a nice (albeit expensive) Covid19 cover.

I received the above cover recently - two of the toilet paper stamps were used, but when the letter was posted to me from Austria, it was returned to the sender with a label over my address advising mail to Australia had been suspended.

Presumably this suspension of mail to Australia was caused by the virus, so I ended up receiving a nice Covid19 item unexpectedly.

When Austria again allowed mail to be sent to Australia, the sender sent me the cover inside another envelope.
A very attractive looking cover Tonga2

The COVID 19 pandemic has had us firmly in its grip for over a year now. Besides all the negative aspects that this period brought with it, we have also been able to gain numerous positive insights, for example the immense willingness to help, the exceptional display of solidarity and many extraordinary and creative ideas on how we can overcome this difficult time together. Countless large and small heroes and heroines from private households, families, associations, organisations, companies and even the authorities have made outstanding contributions to this fight. The 15th official collection sheet "Everyday Heroes" is dedicated to all these people.

SPAIN
Operation Balmis
Operation Balmis
Correos issues a stamp in recognition of Operation Balmis, deployed by the Ministry of Defense, to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

The soldiers in charge of this operation went out to disinfect the streets, reinforce the State Security Corps and Forces and transfer the sick and deceased among many other tasks.

We must not forget the great achievement obtained in the planning and installation of field hospitals in Ifema, Alcalá de Henares, October 12 in Madrid; emergency camps in FIRA in Barcelona, León, Cádiz, San Fernando, Ceuta and Las Palmas, as well as the distribution of food.

This military operation was named "Operation Balmis," in tribute to the Spanish military doctor Francisco Xavier Balmis, who was responsible for the expedition that brought the smallpox vaccine to America and the Philippines.

Corona Virus or not. Probably not.

Taiwan, August 11, 2021

Homage to All Health Workers. The key picture is of a furry bunny. Rabbits are also called Spring Bunnies because they stand for the limitless potential of new life. Each of the six stamps has a charming child presenting pretty flowers as a token of gratitude to the persons fighting the epidemic and a symbol of a bright future ahead.

Faroes will be issuing a pair of stamps on September 20, 2021

ILA = Infektiøs lakseanæmi (Infectious salmon anemia)
In 2001, the Faroese salmon industry was hit by a disaster - 90% of farmed salmon were lost to infectious salmon anemia. Subsequently, the Faroese Food and Veterinary Authority set up an advanced lab for regular testing of farmed salmon. The lab testing methods were adapted for humans during the H1N1 outbreak in 2009, and more recently for COVID-19 testing. Large-scale testing, contact tracing and quarantine have helped to contain the pandemic in the Faroe Islands, with 661 cases as of March 30, 2021 and only 1 death.

Unfortunately not identifiable as a Covid item, but I was amazed to see the condition of this item, which took over 2 months and 2 weeks to arrive. Note that the German registration label is almost totally bleached out - you can just make out the "R". This resulted in it being handled as ordinary mail. The German Post Office site reported the item as a registered article arriving in Australia on the 11th of August. It took a further 17 days to reach me, during which time I suspect the bulk of this damage was done, as it probably would not have been "scannable" otherwise. As I have never seen bleaching like this, I was wondering if it is quarantine-related. The edges of the envelope were so weakened that it basically fell open when I took it from the letter box. Fortunately the two nice German private-order postcards inside were well protected in plastic sleeves, and undamaged.

It seems that only 3 of the 4 machines at the DLC are using this slogan cancel at the moment. I presume it will be use at DLC454 soon, given nearly 2000 new cases in Victoria today.

I am yet to see this in any other states. :)

Do not post links to stamps on this Board.

Some time in the future the link will break & all that will be here is a dead link.

Always post the images of the stamps & I have seen you can do that.

On October 8, 2021, Kosovo issued their third set of stamps related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this time to promote vaccination.

Vaksinohu, shpëto jetë (Get vaccinated, save lives)
The COVID-19 pandemic has seriously affected the lives of children and young people; hence the vaccination process will be a crucial step to return to normality.

COVID-19 vaccines provide hope for ending the pandemic and returning to all the many things we enjoy doing with the people we love. Therefore, we must keep in mind that protective measures such as physical distance, masks, and hand hygiene should be practiced even after vaccination. Get vaccinated today so that we can be together tomorrow.
The four stamps in the set depict a pregnant woman, a breastfeeding mother, a teacher, and young people.
