Throughout the 1969 year I have shown a lot of covers addressed to E. Mein of Warminster Wiltshire & Messrs Lee & Son of Ilford Essex.
Each time their covers are the same envelope stock, have the same stamps, placed in the same configuration & placed in the same position on their covers.
Their covers are also postmarked on the same date. I tend to think is a little strange.
The obvious conclusion to draw is that these two collectors knew each other & prepared covers for each other & sent them off together. However I don't think it is that simple.
The map shows a 117 mile distance & nearly two & half hours time between the two towns today. The time travel may well have been longer 50 years ago.
The next possibility is that some one ran a postmarking service where they prepared covers & sent them off for postmarking & delivery to their customers. This seems doubtful as there is no evidence of an address of an agent on the reverse or a subscription card inside these envelopes.
So perhaps this is all just coincidence.
