Random Monday musing.
But what about this?
Image

Sheets were perforated prior to printing, so there are two possibilities:
That may be the case for these, but if it is it is the first I have heard of stamp paper being perforated prior to printing. Most unusual, for obvious reasons. Printing often includes guidelines or other marks for the perforator to line up with.

Your source for this amazing newsflash ????

So how do you explain this?

Just loaded up one of the most striking modern Australian errors -

Image

Australia 1979 20c Waterfalls *Imperforate Pair* fresh MUH: The Australian Commonwealth Specialists’ Catalogue (ACSC) states that: ”One sheet was discovered which showed the first two strikes of the perforating comb omitted from the right side. This results in the 10th vertical column of stamps being completely imperforate, and the 9th column of stamps imperforate except down the left side.” (ACSC 843b, SG 71ab) Gibbons has a similar note. Only TEN can exist globally. SG 71ab, Ł900 = $A1,800. Juzwin has a block of this same error at $2,750 right now - http://tinyurl.com/20cImperf Fresh MUH, and bought well to clear at HALF Gibbons, and near half Juzwin! $A900 (Stock 682TK)

Hello,

Here is one of my Australian Misperfs. It's on the full envelope and found in a recycling bin.

Nice cover.
Including the selvedge (with design over run) makes it "even more unusual".

I also like the understated irony of the postmark .....
"Respect Privacy" ..... and you found this entire .... "surfing a recycling box" :D

"One mans junk" ..... really is "anothers treasure".

There's a rather pretty almost full sheet (48/50) of the UK's 2003 2nd class "Ice Sculptures" (SG 2410) on sale on eBay just now. (Unfortunately listed by an obnoxious seller-from-hell so I'm personally staying well clear!)

Posted this on another thread a while ago, but reposting here to keep it in the more appropriate thread.......

Just added this to my Canadian Varieties page:

CANADA Unitrade #1183

Print Shift to right with "5 and building" progressively affected from top row to bottom row in right margin block of 10

Now believed to be a perforation shift
, as there is a slight beveling visible from upper corner selvedge down to bottom.

.....and another that was posted elsewhere, but should actually be here:

Here is my newest addition to the Canadian Varieties page: Has now been sold.....
CANADA Unitrade #747b/bi

MAJOR ERROR

Possibly unique intact block of 10

Partial perf + Imperf Lower part of Pane

Image

Mint, Never Hinged

Unitrade Canada Specialized lists this error as #747b for blocks and #747bi for vertical pair

The footnotes say nothing about the full and intact lower part of the pane which has both corner blocks plus the vertical pair.

This block also contains an imperf copy of #747i - "3 pulleys" variety

This is shown in Stamp Magazine this month, and reminded me I had overlooked adding it here. This was first reported via Twitter, by @BetterPhilately who mostly covers the stamps of India and the USA on the blog http://www.betterphilately.com/

I would have expected all the stamps to have been perforated either in one strike on a sheet-fed machine, or on the web. How then does the bottom left stamp come to be perforated twice?
