Aust 1981 55¢ Threatened Species Animal stamp, complete jumped perf line, MUH Block 6, $65
Fresh MUH and a MOST striking error, as in this era, computers ruled the presses and these varieties simply do not occur.

HOW the perf comb could move one hole lower in centre, and not affect the row below or above is a totally mystery, but one thing is for sure, it was impossible to fake! There SHOULD be a double strike of the comb at top or base - or both.

TEN BUCKS apiece ..... a glass of rough house wine cost me that at dinner tonight!

I bought this block of 4 stamps, issued by the USA in 1988, for my Felines collection. It wasn't until it arrived that I noticed there is a white dot above the 'S' in USA, on the bottom right stamp.

Does anyone have any information on this flaw? Is it common? Rare? Recorded? Catalogued? (I don't have any USA catalogues, to check).

Hi, all, I found this one to be unusual, not sure how this type of thing happens. Maybe it will make me $1000 Hong Kong if I sent it to Auction. :D

The lower 2 characters were not applied right, there is a ghostly image of them.

iPad photo sorry.

Any thoughts?

My eyes were only for the postmark when I bought this cover. I didn't spot the flaw on the second 'a' until I scanned it and saw it on the computer screen.

I'm super new to stamps and hope this is not a silly question but I have looked at a number of the attached 3d stamp and wondering if the colouring that seems to extend past the printing on the bottom left is a "fault", sorry for all the incorrect terms!

It is difficult to see from the scan. Most likely the "smudge" is due to colour run (or such thing) caused by moisture after the stamp was printed.

Might I suggest that in the future when posting an image, try to crop out the non-stamp area (though it is a nice piece of wood), and give the reader a larger and clearer image.

Keep staring at those stamps, and keep posting. It's a great hobby.

Here is a very cool Fish stamp IMPERF error I added to stock this week - 8)
Image
Pitcairn Island 1984 35¢ Fish, IMPERFORATE Plate Number MUH corner single: With the Sideways CA watermark, as issued globally in 1984. SG 253 – “Xanthichthys Mento” - Triggerfish.

Stated to be the only example recorded - and on an extensive Google search cannot see another ever being offered, anywhere. Estate purchase - owner had a Max Stern invoice from 1985 for $375 - that is 33 years back - $1,000 in today money’s adjusted. Light black pencil mark on gum at base - might erase with care - did not try.

FISH and Marine Life are one of the world’s leading stamp topicals/thematics of course. For around the cost of the current Australia Post Annual Album – Year Book! $A150 (Stock 561EK)

Recently I bought a collection of 1942-49 ½d kangaroos with various flaws, some complete progressions, such as the colour flaw behind the kangaroo (aka 'extra foliage / bush) and the flaw showing the lines between the 'O' of 'POSTAGE' and the kangaroo's ear, with many unlisted varieties (449 stamps in total), they came with a custom made book detailing all but one type which is listed below.

The collection belonged to two collectors Bryan Young and J.C. Thompson (of 45 MC Lachlan Ave. Rushcutters Bay).

I have catalogued most of them and added their position to a grid identifying their position on a full sheet. The stamps shown belonged to J.C. Thompson, the page is dated 1952, and his comment concerning these stamps.

DATED IN PENCIL - 1952
Row ? Stamp 6. "Flaw on ½d".
Could anyone finding this flaw on full sheet post same to J.C. Thompson

The stamps shown have a very distinctive colour flaw over the lower part of the value.
Image Image
Has anyone seen this type of variety and may be able to shine a little light on them?

Last S in Deutsches, is over inked and the R in Reich has a club foot.

This stamp is from the 1908 Quebec Tercentenary Issue. This CANADA Scott #97 shows a significant misplaced entry, showing lines on the left from Cartier's garment into the white oval.

This particular stamp is from the 1967-73 CANADA Centennial Issue. This stamp is listed in the Canada Specialized Catalog as #465iii, "Plastic Flow" and is a fairly recent discovery in this issue which is noted for many gum, paper, and tagging varieties. The ink used in the printing process is quite thick in the area of the denomination of this stamp and has resulted in this variety appearing in the 8, 15 and 25 cent denominations

These varieties are on the same electro. The top variety corrected a weak band running across the unit resulting in the rigging on the sails being weak and missing. The extensive recutting to correct this so weakened the plate that a crystalline fracture (shown on the bottom stamp) subsequently developed, which zig-zags across the main-mast and sails for 4.5mm.

Recently acquired Canada (SC) Unitrade#727a - Missing Embossing and Silver Inscription
$2.00 issue from 1979 picturing Kluane National Park in the Yukon. The stamp was issued to cover the newly announced registered rate.

Image
(with normal stamp for comparison)

Image
(missing value and CANADA)

At least one full pane of 400 failed to have the silver/grey colour registered (suggested now that 2 panes may have passed), causing the name and postal value to be absent. The printing is supposed to cover the embossed lettering, which is also absent.

Note the 'C' of 'CHARGES' of the lower left stamp - it appears damaged.

Another PNG stamp variety is found on the upper left corner of the ½d Tree Kangaroo (SG 1) surcharged 5d (SG 25).

Most of the surcharged issue show some variability of the shading lines in the corner as seen in the two examples below.
Image.....Image
One of these plate positions was noticeably retouched as seen below.

It too was listed in the 1973 SG Elizabethan catalog:

Hi Rog

That's right, one vertical strip from one sheet, there's isn't much known about it, only what it says on the certificate, ACSC 355bd, meaning that it's from the top of the sheet and that it is state 1 (sheet A L1/1).

There is only a very small printing of the Edition G6 printed with non-helecon ink in existence (all 5d red stamps were printed with Helecon ink), and a relatively small printing of the Edition N8 showing no shading dashes on the left side (caused by damage to the alto plate).

ZAMBIA 1988 Bird stamp 10K **SPECTACULAR** Colour Shift!
I was in Zambia last week, at the very edge of the Zambezi River, about to be swept over the edge of Victoria Falls into Zimbabwe so this was an opportune buy today, in an collection of printing errors. :D

THE most spectacular Colour Misregistration you will ever see from ANYWHERE. The 1988 10K Chicken top value of set – a normal copy is shown underneath - hard to believe it is the same stamp!

Fresh MUH corner copy with Plate number. For a BIRDS collection – a real showpiece, and only $A50! (Stock 781BR)
