½d OS overprint used block of four - although I don't think this was used postally, more likely to be cancelled per favour? (since the stamps were withdrawn in February 1933 and the cancel dated June 1933)

A couple more recent purchases

½d CofA OS overprint postally used block of four. I have seen many CTO blocks (with various capital city cancels) but not many commerically used blocks.

Alex,

I like your "Yalbalgo station" for the stamps and its historical antecedents. Yalbalgo was one of the earliest and largest sheep stations in the Gascoyne region. And the Craigs were one of the great pioneering families. They owned several properties, including Yalbalgo, Portree and Maroonah in the Pilbara.

Thank you for posting it.

That's a pretty late usage if lemon - three years after printing! The pale orange yellow and buff shades had been printed for quite some time by then.

Hi satsuma

I originally thought the same, given the late usage. Having said that I supposed it is not uncommon to see late usages for OS stamps.

Furthermore, I posted this in another thread before earlier this year back in April:

"I have bought the following 2 items recently from 2 separate ebay sellers within a week (!) - one seller from Tasmania and another from SA.

The vertical pair has a Starling certificate stating it is lemon shade.

No doubt it was originally from the same parcel / postal article (as a pair plus a block of four) - amazing that after all these years, I manage to "re-unite" these 2 items!"

Not a block, but nonetheless an unusual pair

1d large multiple watermark Cooke Printing - G101 Carmine Pink - used pair.

I have seen mint blocks before but never seen a used block of Cooke Printings... and this is the first used multiple I have found.

Thanks for sharing. Your blocks leave me drooling. You must have a very special collection of KGV multiples. I really enjoy coming back to this thread from time to time to catch up with your latest purchases.

Cheers

Hi Kevin
Thanks for your kind comments! Like Glen has said many times before, I think used blocks are still vastly undervalued and not yet fully appreciated by most collectors, and certainly I would buy any KGV blocks (as I only collect KGV) whenever I have the opportunity!

Cheers
Alex

Hi Donald - I can't see anything obvious here to help plate the block.
