Hi,

Large FDC from St. Thomas & Prince which was used in the mail stream as registered mail from the ST&P Post to SG. My guess is that it was used to send samples for the SG catalogue.

Nice soccer theme too.

I've also posted these scans and close ups of the cancels on my Odds and Ends thread.

This arrived today from fellow stampboarder Sergijus. I note two different spellings of Serbia.

Question: Does each stamp come out in both versions or is the name done alternately?

Hi,

This is a cover I've received from Glen.

It has a sticker which say Receipted Delivery, but does not have the word Registered on it. Is this
registered mail or some other type of mail service?

Image

Image

Despite the sticker reading "Signature on delivery required" this cover was not signed for and was just
left in my mailbox.

Interesting to see what if anything is shown by Australia Post for this number.

Cheers,

Carmel

A nice little cover I picked up the other day :
Addressed to Thomas Cliffe Colwyn Bay G.B Wales (The Stamp Man)

Mr Cliffe started his business in 1920 and by 1930's his name was associated with Colwyn Bay by up to 5 Million stamp collectors in Britain.

His office was on Princess Drive, Colwyn Bay. Stamps were packed and sold through many and varied outlets including Woolworths.
The stamp packets were also placed in cigarette packets .

With business thriving , about 50 employees his resolve was to build a purpose built factory and sought the assistance of Architect William Bowen.
Cliffe purchased a block of land at Marsh Road , building began in 1937.

Mr Bowen designed a central block for the hub of the work and two smaller dormitory buildings to house the workers.

As it turned out most of the staff preferred to commute back and forth daily so the Dormitory became a canteen & caretakers home.
Thomas Cliffe was very loyal to staff and appreciated there efforts so provided a bus to transport his workers.

Also shown in a Bhutan covers thread, this 1979 genuine internal registered official cover from Thimpu the capital of Bhutan has postage of a pair each of 5ch & 20ch definitives and a pair of 1 nu UPU Centenary stamps.

From the Divisional Forest Officer, Thimpu Division, to the Royal Insurance Corporation, Phuntsholing, which is a border town. The 'road' route of just 164km is awesome!

Evening all, can someone assist with the register label on this Aerogramme from Vietnam, looks to be a $ value before the city name. The postmark looks to be dated 2001, I believe the Aerogramme is from 1950.

Hi all, this one I am not sure to ask Registered thread, Should I buy it thread or Censored covers.

I am having some trouble locating this place name on Google, I come up with a tea plantation :?

Registerd Waharaka. Somewhere in Ceylon or used to be, showing Kings Edward & George. I can only guess the village was small and they still had left over stamps from the previous Monarchy :?:

Latest registered cover from Andy in India, as part of the GB Royal Air Forces "5 days validity" exercise. Some nice stamps including the ladybirds, but none of them postmarked. What is it about these people?

Image

What is particularly interesting is that this one, unlike the first, has the Kolkata Customs endorsement on the front, and proof of ID of the sender still attached folded into 4 on the back! My postman was asking some questions because the driving license attached is not Andy's but a female (relative?). I do wonder about the wisdom of leaving that on, given the fears over identity fraud!

Hi Stampboarders..
Just got this one! :D

Image
Registered cover from Semarang 11.10.1892 sent to Naumburg, Saale. Reverse, transit datestamp of Weltevreden 13.10.1892 and arrival datestamp of Naumburg 14.11.1892.
Postage rate to UPU countries 25 cent + 10 cent registration fee.. (October 1, 1878 - March 1, 1907). I really love the combination between square circle datestamp with numeral cancel.. :D
