This 18c Flower stamp is perfect:
However this one is missing all the black. I have seen quite a few of this error, but this is the only one I have seen on cover, even though is was philatelically contrived:
A close up for comparison:

Nothing wrong with these pair of 1976 Nationhood fdcs postmarked in Brisbane is there
Or is there, have a closer look
Can you see it now
This is ACSC 540cc where the "Stone" colour is omitted from the Kangaroo & Emu (on the right hand stamp).
I have seen one other fdc with a block of 4 on it of this variety. It is where a block was added to a fdc with a single postmarked at Melbourne Philatelic Bureau & the block was postmarked at Charleville. Apparently a sheet with the missing colour & fdc was sent to a stamp dealer in Charleville (& he received on first day so he ran down to post office). He told me after selling some off he had about a half sheet left when Charleville was flooded & the rest were ruined.

The post office didn't do any official covers for this issue themselves, so here's a couple of covers I did for the 2002 Christmas issue. I sent the first lot off with a request for the official FDI postmark - and what came back was not quite what I was expecting.
I've never seen the type of postmarkers they use, but I assume they are fixed-date, so this isn't a case of just forgetting to alter the date, they've accidentally picked up the wrong canceller and used one from the previous "The Magic Rainforest" issue. And they didn't notice their error or I imagine they'd have just replaced the covers.
I sent a few more covers after the first ones came back, these were alright (second cover above).

Perhaps they needed guidelines for the folds as well.

Now when was the 125th Anniversary of the Eureka Stockade?
Was it?
A :- 3rd December 1978
B :- 3rd December 1979
C :- 3rd December 1980
The answer of course is "B" 3rd December 1980, so the Sydney Philatelic Sales Centre make a bad date error while it is possible someone came back to Eureka the next year but somehow I don't think so.

150th Anniversary of Charles Sturt's Explorations PSE, correctly postmarked at Sturt St SA:
However this one postmarked at Wentworth NSW has the 1½d value from Centenary of Sturt's Explorations (issued 2nd June 1930) added. Predecimal stamps were de-monetised on 13th February 1968 & therefore the added stamp should not have been postmarked:
If the one above wasn't bad enough, below both the 1½d & 2d values of the Centenary of Sturt's Explorations (issued 2nd June 1930) have been added but have been incorrectly postmarked with the fdi postmark on 12th November 1980 (50 years after date of issue):

The Darby Munro stamp was correctly postmarked on it's date of issue, 18th February 1981:
Now Darby rode Peter Pan to victory in the Melbourne Cup in 1934, so it was a nice tie in to add the Peter Pan stamps to the cover. However the Peter Pan stamp was issued on 18th October 1978 & therefore should not have been cancelled with the Glen Waverley fdi postmark.

Perhaps not strictly an error, for the purpose of this thread, but I received this in my office mail this morning:
Ford Australia is the Australian subsidiary of Ford Motor Company which is an American company and was founded in Geelong, Victoria, in 1925
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Motor_Company_of_Australia
So this machine slogan cancel was introduced in 2000 & is still going strong in 2014 now that Ford has been in Australia for 89 years. Perhaps the postmark is going stronger than Ford these days!

Gouger Street West, I am reliably informed by an Adelaidite that it is pronounced "Googer":
There was movement at the post office, for the word had passed around
That Gouger Street had a new stamp machine that day,
And they had put the wrong paper in it & it might be worth a thousand pound,
So all the stampies had gathered to play.
Dealers and collectors from the places near and far
Had arrived at the Post Office with delight!
With apologies to Banjo Paterson
