Stamp issue No. 29/2019

Diplomatic Relations Series: Brazil – Switzerland

Art: Lidia Marina Hurovich Neiva
Print system: offset
Paper: gummed chalky paper
Facial value: R$ 2.15
Issue: 240,000 stamps
Design area: 54 x 20mm
Stamp dimensions: 59 x 25mm
Perforation: 11.5 x 12
Date of issue: November 25th , 2019

The choice of the image of the commemorative stamp of the 200th anniversary of the Swiss presence in Brazil was voted on by followers of the social networks of the Swiss Embassy in Brazil. The intention was to unite in one image two important symbols of the Swiss and Brazilian identities. The theme representing the Matterhorn and Pão de Açúcar was the one receiving the most votes. The imposing Swiss mountain with its magnificent woods and the Brazilian mount in Guanabara Bay were painted separately using the watercolor technique. The montage was done digitally, blending the landscapes and their vegetation which in themselves are distinct, but which merge into a curve under the same clear blue sky, giving unity and balance to the whole. The Swiss lake with the reflections of conifers dissolves in the waters of the bay, and two sailboats slide gently, each carrying the micro vector flag of their respective country. Microtype characters with the countries’ respective names were inserted in each mount, as well as thin horizontal stripes with the national colors.

Stamp issue No. 30/2019

Christmas 2019

Art: Giana Pundek Tenius
Print system: offset
Paper: self-adhesive chalky
Sheet with 30 stamps
Facial value: 1ST class rate for domestic commercial mail
Issue: 1,200,000 stamps
Design area: 36 x 36mm
Stamp dimensions: 36 x 36mm
Perforation: cut to shape with “BR”
Date of issue: November 25th , 2019

In the art created by Giana, the Christmas scene – represented by the star, the garland, the pine tree and the house number – has as its central figure the little girl carrying a letter addressed to Santa Claus. Her image represents the innocent, unblocked, free and kind part that each person carries within, from which we can recover our most sincere desires. The idea of this art is to say that a reality can come from a dream, from an intention, and that Correios Company, as a centenary institution, participates in this moment. The letter is the messenger that affirms the possibility of materializing our dreams in transcribing to paper. The dog represents loyalty and friendship. The shadows cast on the wall suggest universal values, such as love, unity, and peace, symbolized respectively by the heart, the family, and a little dove.

This beautiful mixture of Finnish talent and Brazilian inspiration made Eila Ampula gain international fame. Ola Jose Paulo!

Do you have any information on these two stamps. I am guessing they are defnitives issued in 2019, but I am not finding any information on them from the Correios Brasil website (or I am looking in the wrong place). Have seen them on various retail sites from Brazilian new issue sellers.

Jose, may I simply say that those posts of stamps from Brazil are lovely, colourful and well accompanied with technical information and explanation. A worthy companion to the many Portuguese stamps and miniature sheets that I have posted. Please keep them coming. They are a delight to the eye.
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

Jose, you should never make offers like that to a man who cannot say no. The song is,"I'm just a girl who can't say no." However substitute man for girl and that describes me.I will be more than happy to send Australian stamps in return. I am not sure if mail between Brazil/Australia is functioning at present?
