Added this little gem to stock today. :)
Image
GB 1854 6d Embossed stamp VFU with “Lucky” cancel, SG Cat £1,000, for just $A375! A great looking copy as you can see - very attractive for 163 years old. MANY are ugly cut to shape. Queen’s head is crisply and deeply embossed - very often flattened out when soaking and drying etc. This has been lightly and carefully peeled off the parcel, so NO soaking flattening.

These stamps were tediously HAND embossed/crimped onto very stout paper/light card, ONE stamp at a time. The placement of each image varied wildly on every sheet. The units at RH and LH sides as you can see, were hand embossed OVER each side edge of this unit! So this is literally 4 margin.

Magic “888” strike of WINCHESTER. “8” is a SUPER lucky number to any Chinese owner - and as for “888” … ! Bought well, so a lovely stamp, at a tiny % of Gibbons. SG 58, Cat £1,000 - and this is also Reversed AND Inverted Wmk at same time. Amazing: $A375 (Stock 493BR)

I apologize if I have missed anyone or misspelt the poster's name.

I fully realize that producing this appalling statistic is a complete and absolute waste of time but sadly I believe it to be relevant to the thread and the Photobucket crisis.

Moreover its production has saved me at least U.S.$40, since I have avoided the four margaritas I would have normally have had on a Friday night.

Since it requires two stamps to capture a single strike of the small triangle cancellation, I thought this might be of interest.

Yes a darn shame.

Sobbing about these things achieves nothing of course. :)

Helping REPAIR it DOES assist. Volunteer members have quietly and efficiently replaced 50,000 PB images so far.

So instead of naval gazing, why not donate some time to repair some pages?

capetriangle and Lundy are NOT on the list of those Volunteers here working on such projects. :)

This lovely SOTN 4d Kangaroo was on Ebay. Unfortunately I got outsniped.
It went for $61.10, even with some foxing on a couple of perfs.
ACSC value is only $55.

rsellens .. don't fret.

VERY brave buying off that seller who gets bad press here. He cheerfully neglected to mention the heavy perf foxing, or the heavy bleaching, or the cancel that clearly has broken the stamp paper, that the ebay lemmings all blissfully ignore.
Image
Nice cancel, but that stamp has clearly been already bleached within an inch of its life by some ebay cowboy, and there is STILL foxing ... in 5 or 10 years you'll toss it in the bin, but the active mould spores will have infected all your previously CLEAN copies at the same time.

NEVER buy heavily foxed stamps. NEVER buy heavily foxed stamps.

Jon .. agree TOP of the Class those two!

Strangely your 1d red appears to be cancelled by both red and black Maltese Crosses. As I am sure you are aware a 1d red singly cancelled by a red Cross is a howling rarity.

Congratulations on the find.

Earliest know use is 26th November 1934 , so this 1st December 1934 is within one week of the earliest known use.
