this stamp has a surcharge of +5c but is not shown on the stamp.
very interesting cancel. Most of these you will find with cancels from unoccupied Belgium during WW1 (often also from the exclave Baarle Hertog) and Military post in Le Havre). this has been canceled in december 1918, a month after WW1. And it is canceled in the city I live today: Brugge or Bruges

I love these. These are stamps from the very first definitive set that had the 'labels'. Belgium at that time was very catholic and churches were 'full'. If you left it on the stamp, it meant you don't want it to be received on sundays, as people went to church. Well that is not the official version, but that was clearly meant for that reason. If you wanted a letter to be delivered on sunday you either strike through or removed it. Stamps without this label have unfortunately no value.

Laeken is now called Laken, and it is were the royal family lives. Manage is a small city in the french speaking part. For me a very familiar name as when I worked for Bombardier Transportation, we had a plant there that made the bogies (wheels of the trains), which was closed in the end.

A few more from the first set with 'sunday' labels. Belgium at that time was very catholic and churches were 'full'. If you left it on the stamp, it meant you don't want it to be received on sundays, as people went to church. Well that is not the official version, but that was clearly meant for that reason. Better to put your captions underneath the stamp so they will be picked up by the Google Bots. :)

Nice stamp Pampstamp. Looks like 31st Aug. Personally, I would probably steer clear of the bath :o I have been tempted to give one or two delicate looking stamps a dip in the past but I don’t think it’s worth taking the risk! Thanks for sharing.

Must be the photo as it doesn’t appear blue to me. Maybe my eyes are going! It is a little on the grubby side though. Perhaps there is some taint .......... I don’t know ........ is it blue? How cruel! I don’t care, I like it all the same.

Western Australia 3d. Swan ‘Long Tom’

This one is not quite a Direct Hit, but almost. Peak Hill was a busy gold mining town in 1900. It is in the Eastern Goldfields in the Meekatharra Shire, and today it is a ghost town, visited by the odd tourist.

The tiny wisp of ink from the obliteration at twelve o'clock hints at a swift and decisive cancellation.
