Re: My eclectic lifetime stamp collection - a photo journey

Post by wilko »

Right you miserable …....s, I would normally post a few more pictures each weekend but I am going to continue what I started despite the abject lack of audience participation. So, there were 4 guesses. Who was right?

Cover number 4 is addressed to Thomas Etty of Girsby Grange. He is a descendent of the famous artist William Etty. My great aunts and twins, The Alderson Sisters, locally famous artists, are also descended from William Etty. It's worth googling the Alderson sisters to see examples of their work. They were born in 1900 and painted until very late in life. Some of their later work is not great, but in their prime they were talented equine artists.

But cover 4 is not the right answer. This one is, number 2

Image

So, what makes this humble looking cover so special to me? It bear a 16 dot 1d lilac. It has a Liverpool squared circle postmark for 24 July 1887. Why did I pay big money for it? You have to guess.

You can ask me questions and I can answer only yes/no. Your target is to get the answer in no more than 20 questions (like the radio show of the same name).

So, get on with it!

I think you need to ask some more generalised questions. Once you know what he/she did by way of profession you should get it easily.

However, this person had more than one occupation!

I'm saying from the handwriting

Male early to mid 50's, confident but sometimes indecisive, not art based probably scientist, engineer or politician. so that narrows it down a bit.

But I'm still lost  and this might all be totally wrong
