You at least know where to go to do it because the avatar I gave you yesterday has been removed.

Are you copying from Direct link in Photobucket?

Yes, but for a reason the system does not allow me. I just wanted to add my own.

I am following the steps suggested by Glen downloading the image in photobucket selecting the required size, then copy the url to the area assigned for that on my profile (AVATAR), but the system does not allow that url after I submit it.
Dowload picture from my computer to photobucket selecting 160x120 pixels then copying URL to the specific area and then submit.

Regarding my profile...

Post by BethanySDPC »

I have a picture/avatar (the one I have now). But I don't recollect choosing that image. In fact, I don't have that image on my computer at all. Is it possible for the site to put a random picture on?

The strange thing is...the image/avatar is of a stamp that I have...and it's actually not common...I find that odd... any explanations?

Many of our new members do not select their own avatars. When that happens the 'Avatar Fairy' selects one for them. If at all possible the image chosen will reflect the member's interest, location etc in some way.

All members are free to to use an avatar of their own choosing (within the rules).

The directions say "Go to "MY PROFILE" button at top of any page. " I just don't see any such button at the top of this page. What am I missing?

What was missing in the directions was that you need to click on "User Control Panel" which is at the top of the page before you can get access to "Profile". Then everything worked well.

Avatar Setting - using IMGUR - Help please!

Post by TheStormyM »

It seems i just can not get an avatar on here. I was trying to post one using IMGUR.

I have set the settings at thumbnail so under 168pixels.

It just does not want to recognise the URL link or any of the other ones for that matter!

Any IMGUR experts that can point me straight?

Make it larger than you need then click edit on that larger image, and then make new size 164 on longest side then click edit.

Bingo.

It will be 164 x something smaller. 8)

Thank you Sheriff, I now have that part down to a tee!
However, when I then click save and copy / paste the links into the avatar url options; it comes up with "url invalid" every time.

Yes I have. I have also subsequently re-read it too. However I still can not seem to post an avatar onto my profile.

I have completed everything in IMGUR (including re-sizing down to 128x168). When I try to paste the link into Stampboards I keep getting the message "The URL you specified is invalid".

Ok.... did not know that bit. I have now tried again deleting the start [IMG] and the end one too... but am still being told the specified URL does not exist. I must be doing something wrong.

OK!!!!!!!!! Scratch the last...!!!! Even though it told me the URL was not found it has still placed my avatar! Bizarre.
Thank you for your help!
