Large amounts of "Topic Reply Notifications" emails

Post by RobRoyH »

About 10 minutes ago I have gotten more than 40 notifications from the board.... long silent, but someone opened some floodgates.

These are all old it seems.

It sometimes happens. Nothing that we can do something about and nothing to worry about.

I have disabled my post notifications in the board preferences.

These have been likely generated long time ago but have not been sent out. Disabling notifications now is unlikely to have any effect. However, it will have effect in the future. And everyone is likely to experience the same, at least I have.

Yes, I got two today, from threads that I had not set the preference to.
Ian Billings - Norvic Philatelics - Remember almost everything I picture is available, unless otherwise stated or copied from elsewhere, as I reduce a roomful of 'stuff' - just ask. GB stamps info: https://blog.norphil.co.uk, NPhilatelics on twitter, www norphil.co.uk, shop.norphil.co.uk for our e-commerce site

I awoke to 123 topic notification emails in my inbox. That is some glitch!! I have unsubscribed to all the topics I have posted on (though I didn’t subscribe to them). I have never come across such a glitch in all the years and all the different forums I have followed.

Exactly.

Disabling notifications is simply foolish. Any discussions in future that gets a reply, you will be notified. That is how things are supposed to work. Disabling them is very foolish.

We had a tech issue with these in recent times, and it appears it is fixed now.

Just delete the older ones just received while the software cleared a backlog - a 5 second operation, and carry on with life. :)
