Twenty years ago, (I have been here 24), Mansfield had a single building high school and students could still go out for "Rodeo" as a sport. The Cowbell Arena was active and held regular livestock auctions. I could hear coyotes at night and there were scorpions in the backyard. Hawks and Buzzards could still be seen circling overhead and I could still gaze in wonder at the Milky Way on a clear night.
Mansfield has changed a lot!
The Cowbell is gone and so is Rodeo. We have 4 public high schools. No coyotes and no scorpions and hawks are rare. Light pollution has washed out the night sky.
But Mansfield still retains a Texas flavor in many ways. It is a lot like Fort Worth vs. Dallas. If you stopped 10 people in downtown Fort Worth and asked about their opinion of Dallas... you would hear "bunch of dang Yankees".
If you did the Same in Dallas about Fort Worth... "bunch of darn Hicks and Bumpkins". I think it has been that way for 100 years.
As to Cricket... I might enjoy it but who knows. I catch a bit here and there from TV and movies but I think of it terms of Baseball mated with Tennis or Badminton.
Much like Rugby... I loved the movie "Invictus" but have never seen a match. I often dance sideways and shout Ooga-Booga at my basset Hounds to get them worked up for fun though.
I guess I think of Rugby as something like American Football mated with Rodeo, minus the Bulls!
