Private Treaty ... Great Britain Officials

Post by Franco Peli »

Private Treaty ... Great Britain Officials

It is proposed for sale by the "Stanley Gibbons" of London, the collection of "Mr. Michael Astley” relating to the “Great Britain Officials”, service stamps, made for use and consumption by various government and military bodies.

It doesn't seem like an auction to me, I think it's a private treaty sale.

This collection contains many rarities of postage stamps called "Officials" of Great Britain, a collection formed over many years, even with several acquisitions from auctions from the 1950s onwards. Above all with private purchases made directly from the “De la Rue” archives, which have considerably enhanced the collection and allowed a secure identification of the overprints used.

At the beginning of each chapter of the catalog, there is a brief introduction regarding the most interesting pieces.

Below, the chapters of the sale:

- IR OFFICIAL (Inland Revenue)
- OW OFFICIAL (Office of Works)
- ARMY OFFICIAL (Army)
- GOVT PARCELS (Government Parcels)
- BOARD OF EDUCATION
- ADMIRALTY OFFICIAL (The office of Admiralty and Marine Affairs)

Friendliness!

I think it's just a listing in their retail department:

Indeed, it is one of their retail brochures prepared, I think, for last year's virtual Stampex.

This link https://www.stanleygibbons.com/fixed-price-lists/cam000130-astleyofficials has a link so you can download the PDF of the entire brochure.
