Instead of cutting and pasting from a spreadsheet you can do a screenshot and then post the image

This will retain all your formatting.

Okay, if I must :D
Actually, I opted for the text version in the event that someone happened to be doing a "search" for a specific eBay userid.
You are right though...the formatting is a bit rough to read so here are screenshots of the spreadsheet with all the Philip Ryle user IDs I've been made aware of over the years. My recommendation is to not buy stamps from any of them!!

Really interesting. The spreadsheet is really helpful and a lot of work has gone into tracking this guy. Thank You!

Now, if only the Australian Greek Forger from NSW can be put in the slammer.

London to a brick he does not declare his sales either, which the Australian Taxation Office would be really interested in ... :D

Exactly! I've said this from the off - Al Capone was brought down by the taxman in the end, these ebay crooks should be brought to the same sticky end.

But the mere mention of the t*xman seems to put some people into a blind funk.

Thanks for keeping a watchful eye. Indeed, bank-notes IS on the spreadsheet and it indicates that Ryle has stamps actively listed under that account as well as og_stamps.

The rightmost column indicates if he currently has listings active on the account.

Maybe some tech wizard can figure out how we can all share a link to the spreadsheet on a google drive so more of us can keep it up-to-date :D

Another Philip Ryle account on ebay: stampsandcover. Just 114 feedback, and listings of over 900 lots of expensive stamps.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/stampsandcover/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Location: Cardiff, as are other Ryle accounts.

Same style of item description:

Bank-notes:

stampsandcover:

If you right click on the images in his listings and hit "copy image address", for the two different accounts you get these addresses:

I exchanged messages with ID bank-notes a while back, without knowing he/she was the subject of this thread.

Signature on both the Ebay message and direct e-mail was "Karen".
Personal e-mail address : b-a-n-k-n-o-t-e-s-3-2-[at]-g-m-a-i-l-.-c-o-m

At least one item location says California, but business seller details shown as :

Banknotes
Linda Murphy
Cardiff House
Cardiff Road
Cardiff
The Vale of Glamorgan
CF63 2AW

If the Cape triangles he is selling were cleaned & regummed, I have to say he did an impressive job on them ; I can normally spot a cleaned-off postmark easily.

HMRC wrote:
Ryle was jailed for five years in 2002 for his part in a passport scam which used the identities of 37 dead British babies to obtain false passports which were then sold to criminals and illegal immigrants, copying a plotline from Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel ‘The Day of the Jackal’.

Richard Wilkinson, Assistant Director, Fraud Investigation Service, HMRC, said:

“Ryle is a hardened fraudster who has no problem with lying, cheating and manipulating others to make money. He thought his stamp dealing scam was clever enough to slip through the net, but our investigators ensured that justice was delivered.

“HMRC will pursue tax fraudsters relentlessly to stop them stealing funding from the public services we all rely on. Anyone with information about tax fraud can report it to HMRC online or call our hotline on 0800 788 887.”

Ryle, who was previously convicted under the name Philip Ryall, was the director of five companies and three of them were struck off owing more than £695,000 in unpaid VAT.

He used one of these – Rare Stamps Associates Ltd – to purchase hundreds of stamps from outside of the EU, and sell them at vastly increased prices to another of his companies, UK Philatelics Ltd.

He then sold the stamps for their genuine market value to overseas buyers mainly in the US.

Ryle did not pay the VAT due on for the sales made by Rare Stamps Associates, but still claimed over £300,000 in VAT repayments for UK Philatelics and attempted to claim another £90,000, which was refused by HMRC.

Rare Stamps Associates Ltd was wound up by Ryle in August 2014 but he set up a third company - P.E. Philatelic Exports Cyprus Limited - to carry on the fraud.

He was jailed for three years and eight months at Bristol Crown Court on Friday September 28, 2018, having admitted cheating the public revenue at the same court on September 18.

HMRC has begun confiscation proceedings to recover Ryle’s ill-gotten gains.

Information about any type of tax fraud can be reported to HMRC online at https://www.gov.uk/report-an-unregistered-trader-or-business.

Notes to Editors

Philip Ryle, DOB 10/01/1960, of Dovetail Drive, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol. Ryle admitted cheating the public revenue at Bristol Crown Court on September 18, 2018. He was sentenced to three years and eight months at Bristol Crown Court on Friday September 28, 2018.

Ryle was the sole director of Rare Stamps Limited, UK Philatelics Limited and P.E. Philatelic Exports Cyprus Limited.

If Philip Ryle/Ryall was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in mid-September 2018, has he been released already, well ahead of time, to be running these ebay accounts?

Or can one do that from inside prison in the UK? Committing fraud whist being imprisoned for fraud seems like a very strange option to offer inmates.

Is there some public record there, as to when persons are released early, to check such things?

Subject to good behaviour, standard UK practice is to release prisoners on licence half-way through a fixed-period sentence. Technically, they are still serving their sentence but allowed to live in the community. So if he behaved well, he would be out after 22 months - roughly July 2020.

But if he is convicted of any significant further criminal offence during his probation period, the judge could order him back to prison to serve the remainder of the original sentence. Fraud would certainly count, so if he is involved in defrauding stamp buyers, he is taking a big risk.

It appears Ryle was still in prison late 2019, and fighting the category of prison he was being housed in. i.e. the lax open prison class D he started off in, to a higher security closed prison, class C he was upgraded to due to his actions in there.

Where hopefully convicted cons running ebay accounts selling more fake stamps are monitored?

Many pages of reading on it here.

ID stampsandcover listings of GB & commonwealth items show seller location as Cardiff : but his listings of US stamps show seller location as LaFayette, New York (wrongly spelled as La Fayette).

This account shows no business seller details, so he is presenting as a private seller - despite currently having over 1300 items for sale.

Would those address actions be to dodge the UK VAT and US State sales tax added to purchases?

List GB related stamps allegedly from UK, and hence dodge the now automatic 20% VAT that eBay adds etc?

If someone has 10 minutes and lists here a complete list of the conga line of accounts this conman has used over the yuears, it will be VERY helpful. I can then add it into post #1. :!:

The homepage for ID stampsandcover shows an e-mail address : banknotesales4@gmail.com . What a coincidence!

Capture 4.JPG
Current Ebay item # 393178829251 is a collection of Cape items including many mint triangles, stated to have a "preliminary assessment" of CV at £33,000. I sent him a message about a year ago, before knowing his history, alerting him that the true figure was about £10,000 - IF they are all genuinely mint (as now seems very unlikely). He has recently re-listed the item and repeated the untrue claim, which is fraudulent.

Capture 5.JPG

Under ID bank-notes, he has made a schoolboy error. Current item # 265076260342 is listed as a mint one penny rose, SG 5a : but it clearly has the retouched E on HOPE lacking the middle bar, which only occurs on the later De La Rue printing. It appears to be a heavily cleaned /abraded copy of SG 18, the deep carmine.

Capture 6.JPG

Could Ed Casson please confirm how Anne Burgess is involved, so I can consider making a direct report? I'm ex HMRC myself, which may help to carry a bit of weight.

He has dumped all his holding into this 159 low feedback account - 1400 listings! Unhinged EVERYTHING you can dream of back to QV - coff. All regummed for sure. Allegedly based in Cardiff. stampsandcover is theScamBay account

https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?item=393148581099&nordt=t ... 00&_sop=16

Here is Ryalls's new trick - please report this to ebay.

He iss listing up cards purporting to be from old time dealer stocks on Nassau Street. Ralph Orton was a minor dealer up to about WW2 in Nassau sheet, but a small player. His stock did not go past about 1950 when it was auctioned.

These stockcards are wonderfully clean and fresh and pristine and BRIGHT for something allegedly 70 year sold. Why? Because they were printed this year.

More amazing still this dealer Ralph Orton housed them all in clean 3 open side SCOTT or HAWID MOUNTS - which were not made available until the 1970s.

s-l1600dd.jpg

So we have a bunch of regummed, re-perfed and repaired stamps here, and a VERY dodgy looking Scott 12 Frankenstein. With a defective low cat 1c Blue Columbus block tossed in the mix to make it look like a genuine lot. With an ALLEGED Scott of $US77,000 that some eBay dope apparently paid $US7600 for

US Early issues Mint o.g. and NH with $2 Trans-Mississipi #293 NH Cat $75,000

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/US-Early-issues-Mint-o-g-and-NH- ... #itemTitle

BINGO .. .his next trick is to run off a handful of W.E.LEA alleged dealer cards with early GB .. also in lovely NEW mounts! For 9400 quid it could be YOURS.

Lots of 1884 Lilac and Greens hinged he cannot soak to regum as they will badly fugitive ink colour run, and an alleged mint 1d black that has a cleaned off cancel and is thinned, and the 5/- 1867 must be so badly doctored he dares not show an image of that close up.

Yet another change of identity & address - seller ID bank-notes now displays his/her full business details as :

OLGA SAVIK
Linda Murphy
Jamaica House
Bridge Road
Weston-Super-Mare, Bleadon
Somerset
BS24 0AU
United Kingdom
Phone:07392542140
Email:banknotes32@gmail.com

That postcode matches the address, according to the Royal Mail's checking tool. But is she Linda or Olga??

A quick check of several listings still shows the Commonwealth items as being located in Cardiff ; but the USA items are apparently now in "Cardiff by the Sea, California, United States" !

Neither I'd guess. Ryle lives in this Fantasy world. The only women that have anything to do with such lowlifes are the ones you pay by the hour.

The photo of the seller golden-hoarde below we found was in fact a Honduras fisherman, stolen from a travel site!

His first batch of fakebay accounts were mostly under the handles golden-hoarde and marys-gems etc - we had them all closed down - all this cr*p below was on his ebay profile -

Clearly a frustrated adventure writer.

Assistant / Daughter 1:

Shipping and insurance: Lin

Born in Hue near the Laos border while I was excavating the tomb of Khai Dinh.

I won her mother in a game of mah-jong which I had only learnt to play the week before.

Lin is fluent in Cantonese and Vietnamese.

You get the idea! The stories get more extreme as you progress to daughter number 4.

No doubt the tales are as genuine as the gum on the back of any of his MNH stamps.

I somehow missed all this fantasy!

I hope this seller sues me one day, and I'll get to subpeona all this Indiana Jones Circus to appear in court, to verify THEY do exist, and performed all these functions, and are who they are CLAIMED to be.

And I'll get to test their alleged fluency in Cantonese, Vietnamese, Russian and Mongolian.

Any jury would split their sides laughing!

And seeing Mr Golden-hoarde converted to Islam he states, I'll be able to ask him to recite a chapter of the Koran for the benefit of the Jury as well!

Just for the record, in case he/she removes all this fiction, can someone please take a screen capture for me of all this for the record, and confirm it?

This is verbatim what this goose has on his Ebay profile - along with glam photos of them all - of course.

Image

About Me: golden-hoarde( 772)

Henceforth please direct your enquiries as follows:

Now that I'm getting on a bit in years, I've asked my daughters to help me with the selling of my acquisitions.

I've spent my life exploring and traveling the globe.

I've met many fascinating people and I've accumulated a vast amount that I'll have to spend the rest of my days sorting and cataloguing.

Shipping and insurance: Lin

Born in Hue near the Laos border while I was excavating the tomb of Khai Dinh.

I won her mother in a game of mah-jong which I had only learnt to play the week before. Lin is fluent in Cantonese and Vietnamese.

Descriptions: Giselle

I met Giselle's mother whilst restoring the Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan (sadly now destroyed by the Taliban), in collaboration with the the Musee Guimet, Paris. Giselle has just finished her archaeology degree at the Sorbonne in Paris.

Buying: Alyssa

Born in Ulan Bator shortly after I had finished the 3 year excavation of the tomb of Ogadei Khan (son of Ghengis).

Her mother and I returned with her along the Trans-Siberian railway, stopping at Lake Baikal and then on to Novosibirsk while I navigated the river Ob.

One night I got drunk on some kind of fermented goat's milk with 4 Khanty tribesmen. When I awoke I found myself tied up in a moss-covered hut where I spent the next 3 months.

It was minus 30 degrees outside but they fed me on dried fish and horse milk and conditions were tolerable.

After the ransom was paid we made our way to Yekaterinburg where a doctor treated me for frostbite, gangrene and scurvy.

Alyssa is fluent in Mongolian and Russian and has a masters degree in business management.

General assistant: Ann

I met her mother Anfessa just north of Syria while I was working on the Constantine Hoarde project.

She was the most beautiful woman I've ever met but from a very religious family. One hot summer's evening, at the end of the project and suffering from exhaustion, I managed to hire 2 camels and elope with Anfessa to Kahramanmaras where I converted to Islaam.

We traveled to Eregli on the Black Sea where we married and spent the next 6 months exploring the coast for excavation sites. Ann was born on the Bafra peninsula. I'm told that Anfessa's brothers are still looking for me.

Ann gives me no end of worry and I'm hoping she settles down soon. In the meantime she is helping me out and she has a passion for stamps and coins. She graduated 5 years ago in ancient history and civilisation.

The golden-hoarde, Marys-Gems and marys-finegems photos seem about as genuine as the gum on most of their ebay stamp offerings, it seems!

Discovered today on VSC -

https://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=stamps&msg=42680.30

https://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=stamps&msg=42680.29&gid=2060365818

They have ID'd over there the cute photo of "Mary" as being stolen off a dodgy looking Russian dating site.

The original copyright note at base has been carefully removed from it, and added to ebay as the alleged photo of this "female" seller with 2 handles, and same "ME" profile. Who quite probably isn't even female anyway.

The original photo is of a"Viktoria" and clearly Marys-gems stole the image, not the other way around, as the Russian one has rather more cleavage and is a lot clearer.

The note from there is as follows from their member "pepere_jack" -

=========

https://www.anastasiawebdating.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08 ... review.jpg

Notice the website name that has been removed from the bottom with cropping?

It comes from a dating site where you can meet young Russian women (Well, I do not need their services, so I do not know if it works!).

https://www.anastasiawebdating.com I don't think that it is used with permission.

Image

All the pix on Anastasia Dating have an oval swirl "watermark" right around the name logo as can be seen in pic above. marys-gems have needed to carefully paint out that swirl as can be seen, so that appears to be deliberate copyright theft and unauthorised use.

I work pretty hard, but amazed he has the time to list so much in addition to his fabrications. Does he have employees?

His shipping charges are nuts, too.
I am "ddaannv" on ebay, Dan at Dan's Stamps on HipStamp, and an APS member 86690 since 1976. Currently listing some British colonies, Disney, birds on stamps, and world-wide souvenir sheets including some on cover.

His prices in general are nuts. I've never seen someone trying to sell more items for above full SG CV. And $34.62 to ship a stamp to the US? Also there are some typical dodgy items in there, like this one:

s-l1600 (11).jpg

This is a "Registrar General" revenue cancel, not the "Registered" cancel he's hoping you think it is. Not worth US$150 for the revenue usage.

stampsshop currently has 1,423 active listings and just 29 solds (only 17 of which were stamps) in the 10 months the account has been registered.

But, he does not post to Oceania, so that maybe is why nothing is disaplayed.

About 4 weeks ago I sent Ebay Trust & Safety a report about ID bank-notes, pointing out that his listings of US stamps showed a false location as "Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California". Failure to show the correct location of an item for sale is a violation of Ebay selling rules. I also called out the seller about this, and about the multiple names shown as his business information (Karen/Linda/Olga) and his counterfeits.

This ID bank-notes is now NARU - whether done by Ebay or Ryle himself is unclear.

Capture - banknotes.JPG

Perhaps this new ID stampsshop is his same material moved over to his new account. The short 3-line descriptions are certainly similar to those used by ID bank-notes. The business details shown are :

R. Coffin
Flat 11, Maitlands
8 Portarlington Road
Bournemouth
BH4 8BT
UK
Email address : finerarestamps@gmail.com

This postcode correctly matches the street address on the Royal Mail’s postcode checker website.

A random check of the listings shows that the location is usually shown as London UK, but some puzzlingly show “London, KY, United Kingdom”, KY being the US abbreviation for Kentucky. Perhaps that indicates he’s using Ebay.com to list them rather than Ebay UK.

The entire inventory (over 3000 items) can be viewed at https://rarestamps.net.

Very glossy and reminiscent of the new SG website...

I just clicked an earlier link in this thread to ID numis.phil ; surprise surprise, it goes to the listings for ID stampsshop!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Stamps/260/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=numis.phil

I also found that his alternative ID stampsandcover is also NARUd :

Capture stampsandcover.JPG

If Ebay ID stampsshop is the same seller as the website rarestamps.net, he is again showing false locations on his Ebay listings, because the website contact page shows this familiar address :

Jamaica House
Bridge Road
Bleadon
North Somerset
BS24 OAU

That's the same business address as I noted a few months ago in this thread : the one our old friend Linda/Olga/Philip used to display on his/her Ebay listings as ID bank-notes. So - can we find identical listings? YES WE CAN !

I don't think there is any doubt that it is. If you look at the store link for stampsshop on ebay, the store name is "www.rarestamps_net" and the name in the link is "rarestampsonline"

https://www.ebay.com/str/rarestampsonline

stampsshop_store.JPG

Also the Ebay User ID has recently been changed to stampsshop, although I can't seem to find the link to get the user ID history

The question I find most intriguing is who genuinely owns these stamps? The stock value on this site is easily into the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of £/$/€.

Unless you were aware of the background, this site gives the impression of a well-established, well stocked Empire dealer.

I'm sure they do.

The question is where do they exist?

...and who has rightful ownership...?

His shop name using an underscore instead of a dot is a blatant attempt to get around Ebay's policy on Links :

- To protect our members, listings or products can’t contain links that direct customers to a site other than eBay, even if the link is not clickable.
- We don't allow shop names to be a web address
..."

I will alert Ebay UK, but I doubt that will be enough to get the account NARUd ; they will probably just issue a warning and tell him to change it. But if the old IDs were banned by Ebay rather than being cancelled by Ryle himself, then he's also violating the Ebay policy which forbids using a new ID to get around restrictions on a previous one. Worth a try ...

Something has clearly happened recently - all listings for ID stampsshop have gone, and so have all the items in his Ebay shop with the forbidden title, although it still appears to be live :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/rarestampsonline

His website is still in place, with the Jamaica House postal address now removed from the Contact page, but 01934 phone area code which corresponds with that town :
https://rarestamps.net/contact-us/

The business details for ID stampsshop now show two different e-mail addresses and a new address in London :

Ryle capture 1.JPG

Ryle capture 2.JPG

It appears that he recently sold a large number of his current stock in one large listing for nearly £9000, mounted on what may be forged old dealer cards :

Ryle capture 3.jpg
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GB-QV-Mint-stock-of-early-issues- ... 7675.l2557

The mint ten pence brown QV embossed stamp included in that listing is exactly the same photo as the one I identified as being copied from his website earlier in this thread ; yet that stamp is still on sale today on the website :

It also appears that the unused penny Black is also still on his website.

So perhaps he was shill bidding on the large lot and won it himself?

He has now changed his Ebay username from stampsshop to bargaindea1s , but with the same postal address and e-mail addresses shown in his business details. Still no items for sale. The Ebay shop with the illegal web address name now appears to be shut down, presumably by Ebay for rule violation.
