I'd agree with that!

Was chuffed to get this in today's mail - I whited out Murray's home address for his privacy, but great to see stamp clubs doing their bit to support those unfortunate folks in Burma. 8)

Many thanks from them, to all the members of the Essendon Broadmeadows Philatelic Society -

Darren please pass on my sincere thanks at your next meeting, and perhaps direct them to the plug I gave your club on the main Burma thread:

Darren

I'd like to throw in my thanks to your club also.
We are so lucky to have someone so dedicated like Nyi who can make a difference on the ground with the funds from very generous stamp communities like the Essendon Broadmeadows Philatelic Society.

Many thanks to all

Margo

BTW how many Collingwood supporters in your club?

I have not visited the Stampboard for a while as I live on a rural property & only had access to dial up. The speed was so slow it was not worth while attempting to view topics. I have just had a satelite dish installed & will probably spend more time on line again.

I am now the President at Essendon Broadmeadows Philatelic Society & wanted to add some current dates to the site so anybody visiting will be able to drop in.

September 11th Revival of the Jim Sinclair Trophy. The trophy will be awarded to the best members display on the night. This is to become an annual event again.

October 9th Interclub Circuit Books. No auction on the night.

November 13 Three members will give short (3 minute) talks

November 27 Giant 500 lot auction (All welcome)

December 11th Xmas Function with Charity Auction

2009

January 8th
President's talk. German New Guinea

February 12th My other collections: Talks & displays on members collections other than philatelic items.

March 12th Members short talk (Topic to be confirmed)

March 26th Giant 500 lot Auction (All welcome)

April 9th Annual General Meeting followed by short quiz

April 11th 27th Annual Stamp Fair. Well worth attending, large collection of members & dealers offering items for sale. All welcome. Any enquiries (dealers or attendees) to the Secretary P.O Box 27 Niddrie Vic 3042 or to my email on this site & I will pass it on

May 14th Members short talk.

Membership is still only $5.00 for the year. Tea, coffee & biscuits served at each meeting. Small auctions (usually 100 to 150 lots) held at each meeting. Circuit books available at each meeting from 6Pm. Meetings start at 7:45PM. Visitors are always welcome.

Hi Darren,

I just wanted to confirm that the Essendon Club has an auction on Thursday 27th November? Is this at Ukranian Hall and what time does it kick off?

Cheers,

Cameron

Post by DarrenK »

Hi Cameron,
The auction is held at the St Johns Uniting Church Hall Corner Mt Alexander Road & Buckley Street Essendon (Enter via Buckley Street). This is our usual meeting room. The Ukraniun Hall is used once a month for small "stamp fair" where members & dealers can offer their wares. We have a large Stamp Fair once a year, generally in April.

The doors will be open at 6PM for lots to arrive & the auction starts at about 7:45PM. Make yourself known on the night.

Essendon/Broadmeadows Club always welcome visitors so if anyone else is around on the night, please come along.

After discussions with all the members of the committee at Essendon Broadmeadows Philatelic Society we have decided to cancel the next Giant Auction that was due to be held on the 26th March.

This has been decided after many members contacted the president and stated that they were concerned for their own welfare and that of other members. Considering the age group of most members and the susceptibility of that age group to the ConVid-19 virus we have weighed up the options and decided that until further notice we will suspend the meetings of the club. This also includes the annual fair that was due to occur on Saturday April 12th.

If you know of any members or other people that were planning on attending the giant auction or the annual fair please let them know the situation so they don't turn up and find the room locked and empty.

Thank you,

Darren on behalf of the committee.
