Stop Press:

It was announced on Tuesday night at Brighton Philatelic Society AGM, that the Prahran Philatelic Society (Est 1905) would merge with the Brighton Philatelic Society.

At it's height, Prahran had around 400 members based on circuit books. Everyone joined Prahran for the circuit books, including me. However for one reason or another numbers dwindled & in recent times Prahran struggled.

Brighton welcomes this once proud club to it's membership.

It recently came to my attention that the Prahran Philatelic Society was one of the sponsors of the Melbourne 1928 Stamp Exhibiton:

Colleen tells us the joint sponsors of the Exhibition were the Melbourne Philatelic Club, Philatelic Society of Victoria & the Prahran Philatelic Society & three coloured inks (Red, Blue & Green - APM130) were used randomly during the Exhibition.

There has been some discussion that blue does not exist & that it is in fact green. However I will leave you to make your mind up about this.

Note that in 1928, this area of Bentleigh was still market gardens & wasn't developed until the early 1940s, so no street number.
