I posted this in a previous thread. Probably worth re printing.

John Denune Snr and Jnr are both top recommendations. Very obliging and helpful in every way.

There is a lot more to Christmas Seals than meets the eye.
I have mentioned that I like the early Swedish ones.

You don't have to collect them all.

Specialise in a certain period. You can get away from sheets of gaudy material and get back to many 'normal' aspects of philately.

Aside from the normal issues you can branch out into:
- different perfs
- the progressive colour proofs
- get them all used [tied] on covers
- Proofs
- Some of the early Christmas cards are by the same designers
- larger packaging labels, there are even a couple of small booklets
- a couple of early appropriate postcards
- the multidesign [collector rip-off] sheets did not start till about 1960.

So really good collecting up till then.

Gives good meaning to the love of the chase.

Much effort is needed for a lot of this material.

Give it a go.

Tony

My thoughts are they were to be placed on the back of the envelope to seal it !

This rather stylised angel appeared in a small lot of seals I bought recently.
Although I've seen her image in posts above, and had a look about on the internet, I've not found out much about her.
Could someone tell me which country she originated in?
Thanks.

Hello,
I don't collect Xmas seals but I happen to find these ones from Iceland: do you think they are valuable? they are pretty old but # 1 and 2 of row 1 are ungummed, while all the others are MH.

I'm wondering if anyone collects Christmas Seals and similar by year across the world rather than by country? Do any of the stamps look similar, or copy from one another over time?

Just wondering. I've got a few seals somewhere in my collection of miscellaneous "stuff" and never thought of actually organizing them. Perhaps by year might be a good enough reason to look at them again.

We're approaching that time of year again, and in the early spirit of the season, here are some that haven't been shown yet.

Christmas Seals 1967, six designs
Image
Iceland 1979. The first one looks to be from the Oddfellows, not sure about the second, but it looks like a Boy Scouts emblem in the upper part of the badge and a version of the Girl Scouts emblem in the lower part. Selfoss is a town in Iceland so maybe local scouting groups used these to raise funds?
Image

Not Christmas labels but Help Crippled Children 1951. And of course disabled children deserve a Merry Christmas as much as anyone.

… and if I remember correctly the stamp is perf, imperf and rouletted.
Very nice to have on card. Even better if tied.
Different values for usages of each different type??

Vikingeck has answered much of this already but I have an example with what is described as 'saw teeth'.

Not like the usual roulette

As soon as it resurfaces I will post a picture

Just noticed this old request. If you still seek info, the artist is Rockwell Kent, an American. There's a bit about the seal here:

Browsing an auction site that almost never has stamp stuff, but ... here's an oddity that may give someone some depth in their Christmas seal collection/ presentations: a glass slide advertising Christmas seals from 1938.
