KEVII 1/- N.S.W. Stamp Duty - any info. appreciated,

Post by mobbor »

This was in the middle of thousands of KGV 2d Die 3 stamps-

I assume the cut top and stain render it valueless, but I think it's attractive. What can you tell me about It? Thanks in advance.

Even in perfect shape these 1/- have tiny value as it seems to have been the most used value.

Part of a long NSW KEVII bi-colour Stamp Duty series, that went to £1, that are most attractive I always thought.

Various watermarks and perfs among them too as I recall. Quite a field.

Agree .. they are very cool looking things!

Here are a few other values I sold here as a group, on documents, pretty cheaply -

Barefoot is either #61 for the 1909 set or #82 for the 1914 set depending on the watermark.

The online listing above is quite comprehensive, but pricing on these low values is quite "aspirational" Barefoot prices these two at only 10% of this web page but no doubt there is far greater demand in a local market.

Every copy from this set that crosses my desk has had variations from others so a great issue for comprehensive study, in my opinion.

Let me know if you can see a koala behind the king on another copy!

Koala?

That is a CORONA Virus attacking the King, 100 years back.

And he thought he just had the Flu.

They could almost be scans of the same stamp!

I just added arrows to the same scan to highlight what I perceive to be a koala’s eye and nose.

Murphy thinks it is a budgie actually, so this is also all aspirational.

They may be common but not enough have made it to my stamp den to determine if this is constant or transient. Every one I have seems to have a few random spots or specks somewhere.
