Value of 50 x Germany/Bavaria Tourist Sheet Cinderellas?

Post by Kiwidude »

Hi there,

Which era these came from?

Was the full sheet of 50?

The first picture was taken from my phone, As these are huge cinderellas. 42mm x 62mm.
Complete Sheet

Left 25 of sheet / Right 25 of sheet

As seen.To get them scanned took the whole screen on scanner & cut the top off

Any idea's on their worth?

Looks like 1960s to me - if you could give an enlarged image of the one with the car (Row 2, Stamp 1), I could probably be more accurate...

Great!

That looks like a first-generation Mercedes-Benz 190SL. They were produced from 1955 to 1963.

It's clearly a 4-cylinder 190 because the 6-cylinder 300SL had larger, oval headlight clusters.

Assuming that the stamps would have pictured a contemporary Grand Tourer, I think it's safe to date them as "Around 1960".

Peter,

About £130,000 in mint condition.
(That's the Merc, of course!!!)

As far as the sheet of stamps, I presume they were prepared by the tourist authority in West Germany, possibly for use in UK as many of the inscriptions are English (Bavaria, Munich, Black Forest etc).

My usual "formula" for this type of thing would be around 20p to 50p per label, slight premium for a full sheet unless there's any evidence to the contrary. But I'd check out ebay to see if there's anything similar there first...
