"Plating Papua" Book, 563 x A4 pages, RRP $110 as cheap at $A45 each!

For Lakatoi lovers - "Plating Papua Lakatois Stamps Part 1" by Michael Ryan, 563 pages. "The Lithographs, SG 47 to 83"

Huge Full colour illustrations throughout, on high grade, thick Brite White paper stock.

Below is the Book Review on this from Mike Lee, saying "Magnificent - Buy It Now" and "The $110 seems extremely good value to me"

Special trade 'distress' buy of a few copies of these from a colleague who bought too many at issue time, and needed fast cash, sees me able to offer these to stampboards members only at a massive discount to issue price - way under HALF retail - For a truly huge 563 page book, it is the buy of the year!

The puny Brusden White ACSC current "KGVI" is small - half this size B5 size, in half as many pages as this, and all in MONOCOLOUR on thin paper .. yet $A95 retail - as a comparison.

ONE copy - $A60 (Stock 432HA)

TWO copies - $A110 (Stock 432HB)

THREE copies - $A150 (Stock 432HC)

FIVE copies - $A225 (Stock 432HD)
Superb deal for the ebay re-sellers here - retain one, sell off the others 'cheap' at double your cost, and your copy of course is totally free! Or sell them to club members etc, at a little over your cost.

Not one seller on this PLANET has these on ebay - check for yourself. Not ONE. You can offer them as a "Spring Special - at 20% under retail at $90" ... and double your money! Feel free to use my images and wording above.

Image
I just mailed one of these 484 page Brusden White ACSC "Postal Stationery" cats to a client for $A230. That is FOUR times my asking price for this Papua book, and is 80 pages thinner! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Call it - "Plating Papua - STOCK 432HA" - please order via SECURE site: -

https://www.glenstephens.com/order.html

And please do that NOW. Too many think Ill do that later and then quickly forget. I then lose the stamps in the rubble here, and waste an annoying hour finding them again.

For overseas members, to find out the approx cost in YOUR currency, click here - https://www.xe.com

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - don't like it - mail it back within 48 hours of receiving it. No-one ever has yet. :)

And "lay-by/layaway" is always possible - email me with any queries to glen [at] glenstephens.com - OR "trade-ins" always possible! If you have a pile of surplus stuff, I may well be happy to offset that against this item - see

https://www.glenstephens.com/buying.html

As most know - I do NO fairs or shows, have NO shop, and do NOT bother with ebay or any other auctions. I buy endless bulk lots from Estates, and distress sales etc, in this massive city of 6 million with no other real stamp buyers, and offer it here at NETT prices for fast turnover. NO "20%-25% Buyer Fees" to add to my prices, as in auction!

Many similar mouth-watering NETT price offers are being loaded weekly onto -

https://www.glenstephens.com/rarity.html and https://www.glenstephens.com/specials.html

All stampboards lots $A200 and under are always mailed Unregistered and untracked, unless you specifically note otherwise on order form. 1000s of my transactions here for 8 years have been safe by normal post.

If Registered (PO cover is to $A100 only sadly) is required, clearly STATE that on order form - cost is extra $A4 local, and minimum $A15 extra foreign. Only YOU know if your street address is secure - a large packet covered in pretty stamps left outside, just might tempt passers-by? Only YOU know that, I do not. Mail contractors these days are often lazy and leave packets on top of mailboxes etc in view of public, and out in wet weather etc. PO Boxes are far safer.

"All Risk" Insurance is always possible if required as well, at $A2 per $100 covered - again it must be specified on order form. It is like Travel Insurance decline that when booking your ticket, and THEN tell Qantas you really meant to take it 3 weeks back, and you now need to cancel your ticket for no penalty, and see how you go with THAT one!

As per stampboard convention - this lot is offered exclusively first to board members - and on no other sales venue.

For members who make a BANK TRANSFER payment you WILL generally get your goods faster, as it saves me some hassle - but you MUST email me the confirmation number etc - many "forget"! :)

It is a huge and heavy book, and shipping to Europe is the same as you mailing me a huge book 10,000 miles – not cheap!

The difference is - My Postmaster allows me to cancel the carefully selected Philatelically Valuable stamps, and then place them in an outer plastic protective Hagner sheet etc, and place all the paperwork and address label etc on top of that.

So there is basically ZERO visual evidence from outside, that there are any stamps franking on the packet. :D

I tell you this now, as heaps of clients have tossed away the external packaging in the rush to quickly get at their stamps! In this era of so many lazy senders and dealers using only meters or machine labels, many assume I’ve done the same.

NO. You pay the postage, and YOU deserve superb franking - end of story - see examples here – please add a note and photos when your goodies arrive! -

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=29146&start=150

I am the only dealer on earth to consistently ship packages with franking like that I believe, and it effectively means “free shipping” for your parcel. Even on heaver parcels. Ask themanse above who ordered a book to Scotland which arrived in days, with superb franking.

I’ve been a full time dealer for 40 years, and using nice, carefully selected, light cancelled frankings is one of my prized trademarks. Many clients sell the frankings, and get back MORE than they were charged by me for shipping!

It also means that very attractive and tempting stamp franking is not stolen by Post Office employees in transit, (or scuffed and damaged, or gets wet) which is a VERY real issue in many places.

Anyway, the next couple of members to type SOLD here will secure my last copies.

Thank you very much for your clear answer.

And then, even if postage is not cheap... please, sold one copy to me :D .

Quite of no use for me as I have not a single Papua stamp in my collection, but it's one of those country I dream of :) (and I love all those technical books)...

And now I can't wait for the parcel franking

Hope your trash has not been collected yet Richard - there were ~$60 of superb CTO franking hidden UNDER the address label, as always with my sendings!

Your garbage man might just be $60 richer!

For overseas sendings, the package is stamped “POSTAGE PAID AUSTRALIA” in green ink on the face, to verify to Mail Sorting centres that there are indeed postage stamps hidden away IF they care to check.

My Postmaster allows me to cancel the carefully selected Philatelically Valuable stamps, and then place them in an outer plastic protective Hagner sheet etc, and place all the paperwork and address label etc on top of that.

You were absolutely right, your postage was hidden under the label. It needed the use of an 'X-Acto' knife to extract it, as below.
Image
The original package, opened
Image
Peeling off the label
Image
More to come
Image
Most of the sheet
Image
Everything revealed
The package 'notice' arrived last Monday and was picked up at my post office on Tuesday. However, it was only on Sunday that the postage was extracted, so nothing for the garbage man! I was formerly convinced that the label was too thin to conceal anything underneath it. I was wrong.

Many thanks for reducing the cost of the book considerably.

Kindest regards

Well lucky for your I asked otherwise your garbage man would have been a LOT richer than yesterday.

Those huge $5 Kangaroo ''Treasures of The Archives'' superb central CDS are worth more than full face value every day of the week. 8)

Seeing you have done the pix so well, please add them here to warn others - post #1 was from another American member here, who had discarded the packaging already!

For those that don't know why Mick Ryan's "Plating Papua" is so we'll done, here is some background info.

Mick is a retired heart surgeon, in fact his is the first name on the list of teaching surgeons in the foyer of the Mater Hospital at North Sydney. With that background you know he will totally concentrate on the minutiae of stamp flaws.

Apart from the BNG and Papua Lakatoi issues, Mick accumulated an amazing KGV 1d. red collection, with many ex Sir Gawainne Baillie and from other notable collectors.

Although he was intensely interested in the KGV 1d. red flaws, the vast majority of research on those had already been done, which left him to concentrate on the Lakatoi issues.

Although the major Lakatoi flaws had been identified and were well known, he realised that this was an area ripe for further research.

I was fortunate to have a look through his detailed investigative work on all the flaws prior to publishing. He asked me whether I could see any issues with it or changes required.

After much thought I said one word ....... NO :!:

To show the character of the man, he spends a great deal of his time and money helping aboriginal people with health issues in the Northern Territory and in the Redfern area of Sydney.

His book is really a tour de force and essential to anyone interested in the Lakatoi issues.
