DONATE stamp prizes to our Mega April giveway Month!

Post by Global Administrator »

.
It is all all happening in APRIL 2019 here on stampboards. :)

Win a GB 1840 1d Black VFU PAIR! *PLUS* other goodies.
https://www.Stampboards.com is the world’s largest Stamp Bulletin Board by many miles, and in April 2019 reaches many MAJOR milestones, and the party is on. Leading global magazine "Stamp News" very kindly ran this promo on their next front cover.

Stampboards celebrates Birthday 12 in April, and it will reach member number 20,000, and pass message number 6 MILLION, and also reach the 80,000 different topics milepost. All in that same month, and all huge achievements that no-one ever dreamed of, at its inception in 2007. 8)

A hard working team of volunteers has worked for a year, and managed to convert the near one MILLION stamp images there, to be hosted on the large stampboards servers in the USA, via the hard work of member CMJ in the UK. In the past, stamp images were added that were hosted by a bunch of free image hosting sites, personal sites, work sites etc, which often vanished overnight - and so sadly, did the pix.

SO I have decided during the month of April, seeing we reach so many milestones, to have a MEGA giveaway running all month.

This page will go LIVE on April 1 so bookmark it, and start entering then - unlimited entries. So BOOKMARK this link to this page, and pass it on to all your stamp friends - there are $1000s of prizes being given away. I'll add a link to the other prizes soon.

https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=85933

Just the first prize is SG Cat £1,500 = $A3,000. This 1840 Penny Black pair has the corner letters SA and SB as you can see - the SB is for STAMPBOARDS! You can see our logo below has an "SB" corner letter 1d Black. 8)

Image

An English member donated the main prize, as a “Thank You” to stampboards for the benefit he has derived from it, and has asked to stay anonymous. I thank him.

There are many other prizes being pledged as I type this, and the list is growing nicely. This link is where all the action will take place all through pass it on to all your stamp buddies! And DO urge them to join as members - we have less than 200 more to get to reach 20,000.

That member purchased this fresh 4 margin pair from the leading UK dealer in 1d Blacks, and it is on his dealer card, typed with full details: “SG Spec, AS41a” etc. He sought one with the corner letters of “S.B.” for StampBoards of course. The unit on left has strong re-entries in both top corner stars, as can be seen in detail in photo above.

Used PAIRS of any 1d Black are very scarce, as of course all POs had the 2d Blue issued same date, on hand for that rate. The SG Specialised cat values a used pair from Plate 6 at £1,250 (and a used block 4 at £25,000!) A pair lettered SA/SB, with the Re-Entry is probably unique, and of course SG do not list that, but they rate the re-entry at 20% more than a normal, so clearly a £1,500+ type multiple.

For many readers, such a valuable pair in excellent fault free 4 margin condition, would be the most valuable stamp item in the collection, so well worth adding a few 100 entries during April - https://tinyurl.com/WIN1dPair Someone certainly will win it on April 30! A lot of fun too, and a mass of other generous prizes on offer too.
How can *YOU* give back to other members?
Everyone reading this gets something out of stampboards - totally FREE, and here is the time to add something BACK to others!

Please add to the fun, and donate a prize that will be awarded to those runners up to the 1d Black superb used pair, main prize. EVERYONE reading this has some stamp bits and pieces laying about they do not collect or are duplicates etc. Round them up, do a scan, and add them here. You agree to mail your prize free, to whomever wins it, no matter where they reside, and exchange addresses etc. Each donation will be numbered - Prize 4, Prize 12, Prize 46, etc, and at end April it will be clear which member won which prize etc.

So all through April please feel free to add up a giveaway to the conga line of others. Any member can of course offer more than one prize - be great if that occurred. Clearly there is no minimum monetary value specified here, but to be realistic lets ask that you offer prizes that are worth about $US10, to be sensible about it.

Prizes can be of course from ANY country, ANY era, ANY topic, mint or used, or covers etc. So have a clean up of your spares and duplicates. ''The more the merrier!'' as the saying goes.

Prize 4 Glen - an UNISSUED Solomon Islands 1991 65c Food stamp - Scott cat $500 - superb well centred MUH.

Image

Solomon Islands 1991 Health Campaign, 65¢ UNISSUED value, depicting “Less Healthier Food” at left. A set of 5 stamps were printed by Walsall Security Printers in the UK, on the usual CA sideways watermarked paper. On arrival of stock in the Solomons, it was decided not to issue this 65¢ value, as it was noted the more correct English term was of course - “Less Healthy Food”. In error however, a small number of sheets were delivered to some remote Post Offices, and they were certainly used on commercial mail, and several clearly dated used in period pieces and stamps are recorded, from charity kiloware. Full story here - https://tinyurl.com/Glen4-19 Used singles have fetched up to $760 each at auction. I have 4 of them on piece, plus another Dolphin stamp, all with a clear “LATA - March 12 - 1992” cds, dated part envelope to North America - see pic above. The last 2 loose singles Auctioned by Status Auctions got $670 and $760 each they confirm - see https://tinyurl.com/SolsError Scott 693a, listed at $US350 = $A500 a mint single.

Prize 23

(You either collect FDC's, or you don't, but this can be a very flexible prize).

Offered are 60 (sixty) unaddressed Canadian FDC's of the 1980 - 83 era,
57 FDC's being "top right block of 4", 2 are "top right block of 8", and one commemorative cover, with minimal duplication (about 5!)

Image

Image

Image

Image

As you can imagine, with all the inserts this is quite a heavy lot for worldwide shipping, so the further it goes, the slower the route chosen!! The upside, of course, is that you also get a commercial wrapper for a service that's rarely used nowadays (Feel free to mention where your interests lie on UK stamps).

I'm happy for the winner to elect to have them delivered "as they see fit" - Entires, cut down to FDC face only (with or without postmarks), or soaked off (in which case the 268 stamps - all but a few being corner blocks of four, will be "swap ready"). Any reduced package size would then be shipped by a faster route.

And if you win it, I'll ship it to any address / addressee you nominate (nobody wants an extra set of carriage to contend with).

Aircraft, Maps, Faces, Painters, Christmas - there are quite a few themes running through this prize that are suitable for thematic collectors worldwide.

Good luck.

Prize 28:

Just tipped out a "USA only" stock book into a polybag.
(Would generally just get blended into world off paper mix, but happy to offer it as a prize here).
Image
84 grams by weight, (At 7g per 100, that's around 1200 stamps, off paper).

Yes, there will be some duplication, there might even be some defectives, but I can see a $5, and several others over $1, plus a plethora of bulk and not-for-profit rate varieties "that should make it an interesting sort".
Image
USA stamps are popular (but not with everyone), so when the winner makes contact after the competition, I'm quite prepared to offer a swap out to an equivalence of "UK off paper kiloware, of a slightly earlier period, but much wider year span".

(In that eventuality, actual photos will be provided to them, so they can make an informed decision).

Good luck

Prize 32-

A very happy birthday to Stampboards :D :D

I joined in 2012 and have been immensely benefited, in knowledge and in exchanges of stamps. Also got to know great folks from all over the globe, learned folks kind enough to spread their experience and share their stamps, as Anne says in 'Green Gables' - kindred spirits :D :D

I am sure I would not have the great collection on cinema and my other small thematic collection but for Stampboards. I also met some great individuals in India and that has greatly helped in my India postage stamps collection.

So my small contribution to the prize pool, hope some who gets these like them :D :D

I aim to collect one MNH postage stamp (1947 -2017)and one used postage stamp(1947 to 1997) each of the post independent India issues. Other that that, I collect world wide postage stamps on the theme of Cinema. I also collect on authors/painters/musicians/composers and anything on entertainment.

Prize 35:

Next up is a PTT Booklet from Switzerland, containing (MNH) issues for 1982.
Image

Measuring 215mm x 155mm (slightly larger than A5), it is a concise summary of 1982.

Inside there are three double page spreads, with notes on each stamp / se-tenant block.

Prize 36:

Next up is a PTT Souvenir Booklet from Switzerland, this time containing (MNH) "200 Years of Tourism".
Image

Measuring 148mm x 105mm (just about A6), it contains one each of the four stamps in the issue, plus the miniature sheet.

One of the four individual pages ... Zug

Image

Plus the miniature sheet ...

Image

I also found some MNH (top five lines) and used (bottom two lines) which will be included in a glassine envelope in the pack (to add to your swaps).

Image

(For avoidance of doubt, that means "I'm holding on to the Lighthouse backing sheet, to reduce postage costs" :D )
Good luck

I'm not sure exactly when the prize drawing will be published, but I'm assuming it will be early in May.

Whoever wins my donated prize (#22), please don't get anxious if I don't respond quickly to your communication.

I expect to be out of Wi-Fi range for most of the first week.

Thanks
Satsuma

Lets get this up to FIFTY prizes folks. :)

Prize 43 -

Found these on my desk. Assumed (wrongly!)they were Japanese.

PMC advises me these are Manchukuo stamps were issued September 16, 1937, and were part of the "Completion of National Capital" issue, 2 and 4 Fen values.

They both have large violet cancels on them that have faded over the years - close up attached on cancels. Stamps cat 8 pounds used, so on postcard a pretty neat item I'd guess. PRETTY anyway!
