Ha! He'd have had 24 hours to pay up in full with all post costs, if it were my lot.

Well no deal is done until monies are paid, and it appears that has not occured in over a week?

Third parties that are apparently not members, taking over a week to do that, is stretching the way this Forum works.

Members should post for themselves if they are members, to solve these arm's length issues.

It actually makes more sense to keep them in oz it seems, and mail them to Brian Moore or Diver Pete, so that some scanning can take place, and then the originals go to whomever says they want them and can pay for them up front!

Just a quick note to let you fellas know we're still interested down here in the Geelong area. I had a talk to a couple of the club members here, and the consensus was for a hardcopy as a lot don't have a computer, but I can deal with cd or pdf for them. Bill's work is far too important to be shut up in a few peoples hands, IMHO

Hi all. :D

I'm sorry its taken a while for me to reply, but its taken longer than I thought to try and resolve this for the benefit of all :!:

A transaction has now taken place, with the purchaser agreeing to making these catalogues available to STAMPBOARDS members in the near future. The format is to be decided, with discussions to take place between the relevent parties.

I believe that it will be approx in the middle - end of January that the catalogues will be available, so please be patient.
everyone that has posted their interest here will be notified via this thread.

Hope this helps. :D :D
Cheers.
Browny.

Hi Browny! :D

Just to be clear, does this mean the lot has been sold and is being shipped overseas to the new owner?

The new owner is going to then make these available in either PDF or paper format and distribute them from the UK in late January 2010?

Or have I missed something? :?

Cheers

Thanks Browny, sounds good to me. :D :D

I think that the kind offers of the purchaser, and the two gents who have the wherewithal to copy, scan and distribute these are to be applauded.

And let's not forget to do something, and rather quickly, for the author who so kindly gave up his copyright without a problem. If everyone uses this example as a template we should all be happy some time in the new year. :)

Hi all,

A happy New Year to all Stampboarders! :D

I have just received an email that confirms the catalogues have reached their new home in a safe-n-sound manner. (Despite Aussie posts determined effort to wreck a lovely couple of minisheets on cover I'm informed! :( :( )

After assessing the contents, it appears I've given an absurdly optimistic timeframe for the completion of the publication.

As all the 800+ pages are all black & white, they are all quite dark when scanned. This means that all pages will need to be photoshopped.

It will also be a VERY timeconsuming job to create a full index of all the items contained within the catalogue. (Glad I'M not the one undertaking that particular job!  )

Anyway, we have a new estimated timeframe of April for the end result.

Please keep adding your names to this thread if you are interested in a copy of the cd when it is compiled.

Thanks for your patience.

Cheers.
Browny.

Cinderella Catalogue to be Published Digitally Mid-May 2010

As the successful buyer from Browny of the complete collection of Review Publications Cinderella Price Lists published by Bill Hornadge between 1990 and 2000, I intend to make the content available digitally (in PDF format on a single CD or DVD disc) to StampBoarders from May 17 this year, and am opening the order book here, today.

Between 1990 and 2000, Bill published 24 price lists ranging in pagination from 24 to 96pp plus a supplement of 16pp as part of his final clearance sale.

During these 10 years, on the 836 pages that comprised these lists, Bill described and priced and in most cases illustrated a huge variety of Cinderella stamp material (plus some postal issues and other memorabilia) that has become an indispensable reference work for collectors the world over.

In order to make this vast amount of information compiled by Bill available to as many people and as economically as possible, my little team and I have now spent over 100 hours (and I've spent over a thousand dollars not counting my own time) in order to scan, manipulate and index the content, with a view to republishing the content - all 836 pages of it - in PDF format on a single CD or DVD disc, as required by users.

There is an enormous amount of work involved in a project such as this, not just the scanning of pages but also the manipulation of the data in order to obtain the best image quality. We are also enlarging the pages slightly for easier reference and cleaning up some of the pages which were printed very darkly in the first place as well as eliminating pen marks and other annotations left by previous owner(s).

I have personally taken on the very enjoyable task of indexing the content myself - and in doing so have noted a few anomalies between repeat listings of similar items during the course of the series.

Delivery Date
As mentioned above, I am aiming for a publication dated of May 17 and this should be easily met. All disks will be numbered in sequence, with #1 being sent to Bill Hornadge, #2-4 to Browny and #5 to Glen.

Publication would have been much earlier, however my colleague and main helper with the project was diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago with a resulting reduction of input to the process. It is at times like these one is reminded of what is most important in life - and what is not.

I have discussed my publishing plan and pricing with both Glen and Brownie, both of whom agree that it is entirely fair and reasonable. I propose therefore to open the order book today (see summary below), offering a 'pre-publication' discount for those who order and pay up for a 'numbered' copy in advance by midnight Sunday, April 18 (Sydney time).

Copies will be numbered and despatched in the order in which payment is received.

Opening up a pre-order book in this way should give me an idea of the logistics involved and quantities required because I want to make sure I send out all pre-orders humanly possible at the same time (I know how people want to be the first to get these sorts of things and get annoyed when their mates get them before first).

I am planning to offer the catalogue on eBay and at retail a fortnight or so after publication, at higher price than on StampBoards, plus postage (see following).

Delivery Detail
Discs will be packed in an Australia Post CD/DVD mailer and therefore sent by letter post (Registered Post will be extra if required). Every payment received will be acknowledged and customers will be kept informed of the progress of the project and any (unlikely) change to the publication date.

Remember, every disc will be numbered and the lowest numbers allocated in sequence to those who order via StampBoards and pay quickly. For this reason, on this occasion, PayPal payments are actually preferred due to their immediacy and the convenience of a paper trail. I will gladly send a PayPal invoice if needed, otherwise simply PayPal the appropriate amount to stamps(at)stamps4collectors.net together with your mailing address and preference for a single CD or DVD. (Payments by EFT and over-the-counter bank deposits of course are always welcome, but always take a few days to show up and acknowledge.):

I'd just like to add that I believe this cd/dvd format complete with index is a fantastic result for all concerned!!

Congrats to Brian on the result of a lot of long hours he has put into making this information readily available to Stampboarders. AND at a discounted and VERY REALISTIC price. 8) 8)

Anyone who tries to find information on any particular specialised segment of philately, will realise that $30 is exceptionally inexpensive for a reference catalogue.

As the original seller of these catalogues, I can tell everyone that they contain a mountain of information relevent to cinderella stamps the world over. I havent seen the finished product that the original catalogues have turned into, but I know that for only $30 it will be good value :!:
(and NO, I'm not getting a cut or any kick back from this item!! I just know that the information within will prove invaluable to collectors, cannot be found elsewhere, and therefore I am happy to tell stampboarders how I feel in regards to these catalogues/cd.)

Cheers. :D

I'd just like to add that I believe this cd/dvd format complete with index is a fantastic result for all concerned!!

Congrats to Brian on the result of a lot of long hours he has put into making this information readily available to Stampboarders. AND at a discounted and VERY REALISTIC price. 8) 8)

Please send PayPal invoice for DVD format to me please. I may also consider a CD in the near future. Guess with the way this project has gone, it was better that I didn't get the catalogues, eh Browny!!

Nice job folks!

Hi Brian, I'd like to register for a cd/dvd thanks. What is the difference? Is the CD only for use on a computer. What is on the DVD that is diffferent to the CD? :?:

Could you please explain, to quote Pauline Hanson.

And please send me paypal details, thank you.
