Seven Seas hingeless Album v/s Standard Album?

Post by wrwatson »

.
Some advice please?

I've inherited my father's Australian stamp collection, part of which is displayed in the loose leaf Seven Seas stamp album. Most of the stamps are Ok, but some of the glassine holders are disintegrating and there is some foxing around a few stamps.

What should I do?

Transfer everything to an album or Hagner sheets or purchase a replacement Seven Seas series?

Thanks in anticipation of your opinions.

Let me guess - the album was ***NOT*** in a slipcase?

That often causes the mounts to become brittle and fail in our climate. :!:

Read my article on the NECESSITY for them here -

https://www.glenstephens.com/snaugust19.html

I sell brand new Seven Seas albums complete for 50 years, 1913-1966 WITH matching slipcase, for just $A165 so not a big deal, or big cost to replace it all.

Place them into a CLEAN new album, or the issue will just get worse.

A VERY cheap option, that would have stopped the album disintegrating, and the stamps getting rusty.

They are ESSENTIAL in Australia. Full stop.

If family members, who may be non-collectors, want to look at your father's collection from time to time, hagner sheets can be a little dull.

Suggest rehousing in Seven Seas album, with slipcase as suggested. Good luck. :)
