ID please on China Sun Yat Sen stamp overprint!

Was in an Estate today.

I can never figure out most of the zillion overprints on these. Mostly of modest value, but WHY anyone had it cancelled in Queensland in 1979 is weird, so it MIGHT be something of value - who knows?

Thanks in advance.

Glen

As a new stamp doesn't seem to be nothing over nominal cat. but as usual who knows if it's a ovpt. var.

Now as a CTO ... no idea how much would that be absolutely out of my usual league

Anything that arrived at Wavell Heights post office during the 1970s uncancelled got the postmark treatment from postmaster John Amiet. Here are a few you have had before.

Ha - what a great memory.

John Amiet was a client of mine for decades actually. Had no idea he owned the PO there. Very big in perfin collecting.

Oh well, into my next junk carton.

This Nanking issue (two vals, green and brown basic stamps) is abundant in mint, and very, very rare genuine used (in-time...) and particular on cover. It was valid for postage only a few days.
Remainders were sold to packet makers.

I have the same problem as Glen on China overprints. Maybe I should just post them up for help. Will do another day.

Here are the two Scott Catalog #'s, 5L43 (a overprint) $1 on $10 green perf 12½ and 5L44 (a overprint) $3 on $20 violet brown perf 13, Peoples Republic of China - East China, May 1949.
