Just went through a lot of NWPI items I thought I sold years ago. Found a second w/mark Roo ABC strip and thought they may be of use for your plating. I have shown them singly rather than a strip for better resolution:

The strip shown below, with the missing perforating pin between the third and fourth stamps, has now convinced me that this variety is confined to the Right plates as originally speculated. The strip is provisionally plated as 2R1-5. Additional items also confirm this observation regarding the missing perforating pin.

An article begun a couple of months ago will now be completed and submitted to the Australian Commonwealth Collector's Club of New South Wales (ACCCNSW) documenting my theory. I'll post a copy here as well.

I have just updated 5 plate positions.

Postings for 2R1-3 have had revisions made due to the Second Watermark strip of 4 shown previously. 2R9 & 2R43 have been updated as well.

Updates:

2R1 - added the Second Watermark occurence
- '1b' is now an EFO
- '1c' has been corrected - reference to the breaks in shading lines 4-6 have been deleted
- '1d' is no longer an EFO.

2R2 - added the Second Watermark occurence

2R3 - added the Second Watermark occurence

2R9 - added the Second Watermark occurence
- minor varieties '9d' & '9e' have been added

2R43 - substituted a scan of the actual flaw for the drawing prepared by David Banwell and Bob Parsons
Time to quit. Was told what I should collect.

The pages posted below were recently published in the June 2014 BSAP Bulletin. If anyone can elaborate the help would be appreciated. It would augment my research into plating the upper plates: 1L and 1R of the 1/- First and Second watermarked Roos.

Kainnikanada, your post of position 2L29 mentioned needing confirmation of the single flaw in 2nd watermark.

The flaw is listed in Brusden-White as 30(U)d (1st wmk only).

Perhaps the flaw in this copy, although reduced in extent from your example and that in the catalog, extends that to 2nd wmk - 31(U)d.

Pat,

Nice find! It certainly is a worn state of the flaw. I had assumed it was a temporary clogging similar to the 6d Roo accented 'E' flaw that disappeared after the 1st watermark.

I hope, to either update this wiki (rearrange the posts) or perhaps add stuff to the 1/- wiki Gutters created, with all the new information from Stampboarders.

I'll borrow a copy of your scan. Nice clear image.

Kainnikanada,

Thanks for this great post, found it after doing a search for "research methodology'.
It has given me some good ideas.

Bigjim
