How the Wiki forum works

The members ask - the members get. There was a member demand for a STAMP WIKI on this board. Well here we go. All of you so minded can add to your heart's content. The Moderators here can consolidate info into a new post and keep things tidy. They can add 'Stickies' or 'announcements' to be at the top of the Forum.

Moderators: gmoney, GUTTERS, johnrcrow, kuikka, Kainnikanada, KevinHedley, tonga2, mobbor, Allanswood, PhilipAdams, bazza4338, Volunteer Moderator Team

How the Wiki forum works

Post by amhazing »

How the Wiki forum works:

At the moment the agreed upon protocol for the wiki forum is any member can add a post to any thread. However, after reading the post, the many Forum moderators will then add the information (or amend where applicable) to the main post and then generally DELETE the post you made. This is so searching for the information is easy and the forum is kept 'clean'.

If you want a new topic please just start one. If people think it is a good idea they will drop in and help you.

Volunteers: As you might have guessed there is a LOT of work to be done at this stage. So if you are a specialist in a particular area please feel free to add your knowledge.

If you don't want to do the work but can provide the information - please say so in the applicable thread, or email Admin who may agree to allow you Moderator powers for this Wiki Forum.

Stickies: Please don't sticky every new topic. They are all important!
Forgive my ignorance - what does 'sticky' mean in this context?

Sticky - it is one of the options you have when you create a new topic in this forum. It places your topic at the top of the forum's list and keeps it there - unlike a normal topic which only goes to the top if it has a new post and then as more topics get new posts goes 'down' the list. That was why people 'bump' a topic by adding a small post ie saying 'bump' to bring it back up to the top and get peoples attention. A 'sticky' never moves - it is STUCK

Ahhhh I didn't know that - I thought everyone could in this forum.

I will modify the "notice" above then as it is obviously superfluous.

It is not clear how one becomes a thread leader, and who assigns edit privileges.

Can someone please contact me re http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=32932&p=2448623#p2448623 (AAT Cinderella wiki) please?
